"We tried something new this week, and the Connect the Dots strategy from lead4ward did not disappoint! We extended our thinking by making lots of connections with different area and perimeter word problems!" - Ashley, Lewisville ISD
Try it yourself!
1. Organize students into pairs or small groups.
2. Project the Connect the Dots handout.
3. Model the first connection between the topics or images.
4. Let students work together to explore and record connections between the next two pairs.
5. Each student independently records a connection using the last pair.

Check out my first 2 days collaborating and growing as an educator through the #ampRICE25 program. So far, we've been active participants in the QFT process and lead discussions over the integration of cross-curricular instruction in our math classrooms 🔥 #RiceSTEM
🔎 "Imagine you're detectives..."
When examining word problems from three angles, your mathematical investigators can make sure they've left no stone unturned!

Keep students engaged before a holiday break ✅️
This week we started off my favorite unit by calculating percentages from models. Students were challenged to create their own model and calculate the percentage of the shaded area they used. They did not disappoint 👏🏽
Over a decade ago, Alfonso Mendoza took his first job in the district as a mailroom driver. Now teaching 8th grade at @LandrumMS, he hopes to guide students and help them realize how much they can achieve when they put their minds to it. 💫

Check it out @R4Math@_ramirezinsixth & @MauriceLms had their @LandrumMS 6th graders, do a fluency check over distributive property to build up their confidence before reviewing with STAAR like problems! Fluency = confidence booster 🧠💡💭
What a treat yesterday our 6th grade Mathletes got to get a hands on lesson on creating percent bar graphs using excel sheets from our Librarian Mr. Martin! Thank you so much @LandrumMS#collaboration
Today we were able to differentiate our unit 8 review of Linear relationships ….students completed various task that targeted an area of Linear relationships that they may have struggled with throughout the unit while collaborating with their peers @_ramirezinsixth
