My heart goes out this morning to #SalmanRushdie. Early in my career as an artist, he gave an example of how we can stand up to political and religious extremism. As creators we are placed in that fulcrum, because creativity encourages #freedomofthought and #selfexpression .

To put my bare feet in the cold water, to lie on pine needles in the bright sunshine, and to feel my aliveness. As modern humans, we often forget our intimate connection with nature, how we ourselves are made up of its very elements. This was a great reminder of that reality.

Yesterday, I had the great opportunity to spend time hiking in the mountains of Oaxaca. I passed through forests of old growth pine trees, and sat beside a clear mountain stream. It felt so energizing to connect with nature.
