Most private universities and colleges today are run by politicians and mafias. This will be the fourth time this government has failed to contain very manageable violence inside the country, that too in the national capital every single time.

- The CAA/NRC protests turned violent without much ground.

- Shaheen Bagh turned into the Delhi riots.

- The farmers' protest turned into the most audacious dash up to the Red Fort.

And now, this CJP protest.

I keep seeing the same faces that I have seen before every violent protest. Nothing happens to anyone.

This protest, violence, and anger among the youth will start costing the ruling party dearly in the coming times.

But apart from the electoral impact, the sheer incompetence in managing very simple situations, maintaining positive optics, and keeping anarchist elements in check is astonishing.

It is funny that managing these things is apparently so hard for the government that they end up beating students without effectively communicating to them what they are doing wrong.

No govt in the past 79 years of Independence has allowed it, and no govt in our lifetime will ever allow an uncontrolled mob of tens of thousands of people to march on Parliament.

Police action will always be taken. The Supreme Court has given guidelines about this.

So when a movement leader asks you to participate in a protest at Parliament, know that they want you at Parliament so you are beaten by the police instead of them. And their agenda will be further intensifies because of it.

Even if BJP asks you in future to participate in March to Parliament, know that the reason is same.

Over the past many years, I have taken a personal stand in support of the NEET examination, arguing that it brought uniformity in student selection across the country and gave students from underprivileged backgrounds a real shot at pursuing their dream of medical education. In the last 5 years, the NEET UG question paper has leaked thrice. Imagine the amount of pressure that it puts on students, who had to go through the examination process yet another time when the system that was supposed to bring in uniformity was failing. Yet there was no accountability, and I believe strongly that it was that moment that brought in a shift in the minds of the students to take to the streets to cry their hearts out.

Protest is a fundamental right in a Democracy. The pertinent question, however, is this: why did the BJP-led Central Government take so long to initiate a dialogue with the protestors? Why was meaningful engagement delayed until the protest had escalated to a flashpoint? What kept you waiting?

The students and the people who are leading them also have a responsibility here. It is natural that when a protest stays on for weeks, people with vested interests will take the stage to air views that are either completely irrelevant to the initial demands of the protests or would try to completely hijack it to serve their agenda. If you remain silent and let these people with vested interests further their agenda, then you are deviating from your core objectives. Please do not let it happen!

I urge the BJP-led Central Government to engage in meaningful dialogue, uphold transparency, and take swift, appropriate action to address the concerns at hand. The strength of any nation lies in the confidence its youth place in its institutions. If our students lose faith in the fairness and credibility of our education system, we are jeopardising the future of our nation.

While it’s important to support our students and ask for educational reforms that positively impact the future of our youth, it’s also very important that peaceful protests by students are Not hijacked by anti national elements to create chaos & change the nature of the protest.

Seeing so much hate & divide online makes me wonder if bad elements in & outside our country have already started to work overtime to weaponise the anger & frustration felt by our students.

I have always believed in hard work, equality and excellence & that should never be compromised. Genuine question:

Why can't Indian highways be smooth? They always feel uneven, bumpy, undulating. Even on flyovers along NHs, you can feel every expansion joint under your car. Many times, the car hits a sudden vertical bump out of nowhere, usually at the beginning of a flyover, and the impact is so hard that the wipers come on.

A joyous moment for every Indian!

Chola Copper Plates dating back to the 11th Century will be repatriated to India from the Netherlands. Took part in the ceremony for the same in the presence of Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

The Chola Copper Plates are a set of 21 large plates and 3 small plates and largely contain texts in Tamil, one of the most beautiful languages of the world. They relate to the great Rajendra Chola I formalising an oral commitment made by his father, King Rajaraja I. They also showcase the greatness of the Cholas. We in India are immensely proud of the Cholas, their culture and their maritime prowess.

I thank the Government of the Netherlands and Leiden University in particular, where the Copper Plates were kept since the mid-19th century.
