„It’s complicated“
I pay you money. I get something in return.
I’m sorry for having such a wild expectation as not being stolen from.
Fun fact: even the EU Commission itself has pointed out that we are not asking for anything that infringes IP law.
And if we were — 1.4 million Europeans, and millions more worldwide, are asking you to do something about it anyway. Remind us: who’s the sovereign again?
Jason Momoa has an entire company dedicated to making sustainable bottled water with the slogan “Clean Oceans. Clean Future.” and he’s sitting there hyping up an AI image that literally contributes to destroying our water supply. You cannot make this up.
Any use of generative AI is awful, but it's especially insulting when you have a $180M budget and still don't pay someone to make concept art. Incredibly disappointing to see it used and promoted in such a soulless way
One more time: EVERYONE will be negatively impacted if we let Sony erase physical media. Not just physical buyers. Digital will get more expensive and you will have no form of ownership anymore. Physical going away doesn't mean the rest gains something. Quite the opposite!
SONY IS GONNA FALL !!!
Let’s look at the main purchasing power. Players over 30 years old. They generally have stable careers, disposable income and decades of gaming experience. They aren’t usually buying only two or three games a year. Many buy ten, twenty, or even more games annually across multiple platforms. They purchase consoles, accessories, collector’s editions, subscriptions, controllers and gaming hardware. They spend thousands of euros every year on their hobby.
Meanwhile, younger players are incredibly valuable too, but many are still in school, university or just starting their careers. Naturally, many focus on a handful of games such as Call of Duty, EA Sports FC, Fortnite, or similar live service titles that they play for hundreds of hours.
There’s nothing wrong with that.
But as a platform holder, you cannot build your entire long term strategy around players who are primarily loyal to individual games rather than to your platform. Cross-play has changed everything. If my friends can play with me regardless of platform, then choosing between PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or PC becomes much easier. Platform loyalty becomes weaker.
Customer experience becomes more important.
Now ask yourself this - what happens when you alienate the customers with the highest spending power?
They leave.

These journalists don’t work for me or for you. How do you think they get access to their information, interviews and insider knowledge? By maintaining relationships with the companies and in many cases, helping push their narratives to the public.
Yes they do criticize companies from time to time but only when it comes to protecting developers who provide them or other journalists with valuable information and access. But when it comes to consumer rights, they’re often much quieter. Instead they frame everything as inevitable and make it seem like consumers have no real choice or power.

No, no they don’t understand that just because it makes sense to put the GTA trailer behind the Netflix paywall, that’s still greedy as hell
and we’ve seen that time and again with their lobbyists and higher-ups of Rockstar Games GTA 6 Team, Sonys people etc
Heck they LIED to the Senate!
These people can’t even seem to fathom that squeezing maximum revenue out of everything while screwing over their customers is the exact opposite of what customers meaning all of us actually want.
Stop lying. We know it's not dying down. And you're using the same stats from a month ago. You aren't here to report news, you're here to parrot other tweets.
Sony is still under fire for doubling down. We don't know what will come of that, but it still happening.
