Ria (JC Sevilla Sangria) is surprising her BFF, Lauren, with all the things she's learning. It seems she has learned what "Cheese" means. 😂

@LV_Eventing Hmmm...that seems like plenty. At our last barn, Ria was getting 5 qts of Tribute Kalm Ultra, 1 cup of Essential K, 1 cup of Buckeye Ultimate Finish, and 1 cup of Constant Comfort, all twice a day with about 12 hours of turnout on really nice grass.
@LV_Eventing Ria is now down to 4 lbs a day of Triple Crown Senior, orchard hay for the 2-3 hours she's in her stall, and then lush pasture the rest of the time during turnout.
@sad_horse_girl Yeahhh...I need to start wearing a helmet for that too obviously. Ria reared up and clipped my head with her hoof two weekends ago and I'm still recovering from the resulting concussion (not bad thankfully!)
First Cistron baby!!! 😍I'd be flat out lying if I said I hadn't fantasized about breeding Ria to him. If I had the money for a foal and a place to keep them, I would very seriously consider it. https://t.co/SHv0Zk345Z
Superb essay by @flysofree . For #horseracing to really work owners must be where responsibility lies. Just like in other businesses, the buck starts and stops at the top.

So I ended up paying someone to put a few training rides on Ria and it seems to have helped enormously. Ria was an angel in the crossties today - best she's ever been, she was easy to mount, and did a really lovely job under saddle. She got a well-deserved apple AND peppermints.
@hypocritEQal Dover pads are also shit quality. Tossed one of my first pads in the wash once, and all of the threads started to pull out and become undone. IMO the best bang for your buck are the Weatherbeeta pads, particularly when they're on sale at StateLine Tack (often for around $40/each)
This is one of the (many) reasons why I love @WasabiStables so much. They always want to increase the horse's quality of life, whether that's through racetrack training and other life improvements there, or by retiring the horse to a great home. I am so proud to be a WVS member.
Put together a video about the retraining of a horse, Pugilist, that was claimed by @WasabiStables in November. But it is really a testament to the great work of @Cruz_Racing & his team.

Hopefully a few educational nuggets in here too.

@Knees2NoseBasis Ahh, that's tougher then...maybe leave him for a few seconds, then click, come back and reward if he's still calm. And then just gradually increase the time you're gone?
