The following are distinct:
1. Femininum ut signum
2. Femininum in essentia
3. Femininum in Deo
And the feminine as chaos pertains mainly to 1 and 2 only considered as a target of working order.
@mfjlewis Nobody who talks about financial sins and is serious about them in the faith is talking about some weird situation and nobody who's talking about sexual sins and is serious about them is talking about some weird situation.
@mfjlewis It's the same thing with some financial matters. If somebody Is straightforwardly committing fraud or whatever then it's a sin.
If there's some other kind of liminal situation where that's what they got the money to pay and that's what they've agreed etc then okay.
Since that account has also been restored everyone should follow my *close personal friend* @CTrefugees
It'll be decided which of the two accounts goes to blue and main use by next week.
@MtnStdTime@Joeinblack Consecration is a species of blessing but doesn't exhaust it.
Also consider Rebecca's effort to secure Isaac's blessing for Jacob by trickery. It's not at all clear that this is a class of act that's necessarily to be in recognition of something already received.
@Jahaza In other words I think you've confused the is of identity and the is of predication. Blessings are predicated of the liturgy here as red is predicated of apples but it doesn't follow that all blessing is liturgy any more than all red is apple.
@Jahaza Vestments are part of the liturgy but it doesn't follow from that that all vestments are liturgical.
I also don't just mean this as a logical distinction either since it seems obvious to me that the tradition of the church in scripture includes extra-liturgical blessing.
@Jahaza@UofR I'm also a liturgy nerd, but I just don't see on standard definitions how all blessings can be classed as liturgical. For not all blessings are among the public worship of the Church.
It seems to me what is contemplated would fall under Sacrosanctum Concilium 9.
@Joeinblack But it isn't per se wrong that a sinner, even an evident one, be blessed- either with no specific words or with ones not "blessing" sins.
Else our practice of blessing the congregation at Mass in general would at least be gravely imprudent as would all general blessings.
@Joeinblack It's wrong for a priest to make either a "blessing" that's a sin eg 'may God make grant that you commit murders that are easy and undetectable' or to make one directly of something sinful eg 'may God grant your abortion practice increasing wealth and patronage.'
"Vatican aide says some 400 Syro-Malabar priests to be excommunicated in the coming days for rejecting liturgical reform issued by their Synod and backed by Pope Francis" - https://t.co/wsN7IhvgCp Such an inclusive church, where EVERYONE is welcome, with liturgical diversity!
@TUGFansMatter@Joeinblack@garypageau The priest could intend to bless such a thing but he would be wrong, much as a priest who blesses those who can't receive would be wrong to intend to bless them specifically for whatever reasons there are that they cannot receive.
@TUGFansMatter@Joeinblack@garypageau The document very specifically prohibits that. They can intend that but that's wrong- much as somebody receiving a blessing while not receiving the Eucharist would be wrong to think that he is being blessed because he can't or won't receive the Eucharist.
@TUGFansMatter@Joeinblack@garypageau The fact that you think every blessing is an indication of your holiness is what I mean by your belief that blessings are merit badges/rewards. Such a view would indicate that we should not have even the blessing at mass let alone blessings for people who don't receive at Mass.
