Arts Research Fellow @JesusCollegeCam | writing a book on Gillian Rose | Reading Hegel @UChicagoPress, 2025 | ed. Marxist Modernism by Gillian Rose @VersoBooks
Publication day for my first book, Reading Hegel: Irony, Recollection, Critique !
It's written I hope in a lively,at times polemical style––not only for Hegel scholars but for anyone interested in what's at stake in our reading of philosophy, theory, and criticism @UChicagoPress
Here's a video from last year's Gillian Rose memorial conference feat. my paper on Rose, Hegel, Kierkegaard and "the risk of action" (from 27:45).
Also included is Rachel Pafe's excellent paper on Rose's Talmudic Hegel contra Levinas

Nice to finally get my hands on a hardcopy of this issue of Radical Philosophy feat my essay on Gillian Rose, the phenomenology of necessary social illusion, and why a theory of reification requires a theory of personification
Missing from Adorno's work is the Hegelian notion of 'self-reference'; missing from the Marxism of both men (Adorno and Benjamin) is any notion of human activity or praxis.
-- Gillian Rose
Continuing to enjoy the work of Claire Bishop. This morning I read her essay on dialectical contemporaneity in curatorial practice. She ties it to Benjamin’s practice of collecting which generates “multitemporal mappings of history outside of national and disciplinary frameworks”

Versions of both papers appear in the recent volume Perdition and promise in the thought of Gillian Rose published by CRMEP Books https://t.co/zrTiEljsw9
Recording of the great conversation I had with @Mblaz39 and Karen Ng via @redmayseattle, on the question of why we find ourselves returning to Hegel, again and again.
