Decided to be a good citizen. Inspired by PM’s call for austerity, left the car at home.
Auto to the Metro station: ₹30. Metro ticket: ₹30. Feeder bus for the last stretch: ₹20. Total one way: ₹80. Return journey: another ₹80. Grand daily total: ₹160.
My car gives 14 kilometres to a litre. Office is 7 kilometres from home. Roughly ₹100 a day, door to door, including the petrol and the quiet dignity of arriving without fuss.
Public transport, in other words, costs me ₹60 more than driving myself. Per day. In a city with a functioning Metro.
This is what we call last-mile connectivity gap — the small, unglamorous gap between the grand infrastructure and your actual front door. Austerity, apparently, is for the commuter alone. The PM travels by motorcade. The last I checked.
Samay Raina’s stand up special is terrific. Excellent writing. Excellent performance. And this is my first time watching him. I wasn’t a viewer of Latent. I had only seen a few clips floating on the internet before it shut down. I also personally don’t enjoy crude comedy or roasting as a format.
Having said that, his special is really good. It is emotional, funny, deep and reflective. Once you go through a trial by fire, you come out a different person, and for an artist / creator / builder, it is more often than not, a blessing in disguise.
@nammayatri was travelling back from the airport. After loading my luggage, the driver asked me to pay significantly more than the actual estimate, stating high demand. He asked me to cancel the ride if I didn't want to pay extra.
Took 45 mins to reach the Blr airport which is 33km from my house. Landed in Pune and took 2+ hours to reach home which is 13km away. Never thought I'd say this but I'm so grateful for Blr traffic 🤡
