If the Downing St coronavirus news conference wasn't traumatising enough, in the post for Dad today:
1. Govt letter advising he stop shielding
2. Request to book his booster vaccine
3. His death certificate stating his cause of death as "Covid-19 Pneumonitis"
There are no words
@seanmmona2101@SaferNowCYP Yes! Well done for seeing the lesson & acting on it. Health is everything. Once lost/broken, it's a very long road back & even then it's never quite the same ever again. I'm 3yrs on & learning to slow down/honour my health anew every day. Looking forward to your 2025 successes!
Me everyday with a chronic illness:
I don't feel well. Is it my chronic illness? Is it a cold? Is it the weather? Is it because I'm stressed? Is it because I did to much yesterday? Is it because I slept bad? Is it a new illness? Is it a flare? Do I need electrolytes?
I wish people understood brain fog is more than just feeling a little groggy.
How would you explain your brain fog to others to get them to understand how hard it is to deal with?
Her employer - University of Portsmouth - reported her to Prevent!!! I want every white academic who doesn’t believe us when we say academia is a hostile space to read this. And speak up, you cowards!!!
Come and join us for the second seminar of the year hosted by the BSA social work study group. Speakers Dr Amy Lynch and Dr Caroline Webb will be discussing their work exploring aspects of supervision in social work. All welcome! Remember to register. @rosie_buckland co-convenor
@AnnaKotovaOx Pernicious anaemia (B12 anaemia) sufferer here. Have some knowledge of B12 blood test results but obviously am not a medic so you may want to wait for a medic for more complex stuff but I have basic knowledge if no one else comes along...
The legacy of this parliament is writ large in the names of over 230,000 people who died of Covid 19.
All political parties must commit to learning from the Covid Inquiry, and preventing the last Government’s mistakes from being repeated ever again.
University of Birmingham Encampment Coalition for Palestine has launched!
As the situation in Gaza escalates, so too does the global student movement towards establishing lasting peace and liberating Palestine ✊️🇸
Politics can be noisy, tumultuous, and cruel, and there are people who take advantage of that to suit their own hunger for power.
There is always a cost. This time, an innocent woman, and every person who saw that video and felt the sting of that slur.
We're now into day 37 of the West Midlands Mayor Election Count. Candidates are arguing about the introduction of VAR. The Green candidate has given up veganism & resorted to cannibalism & a reporter from Midlands Today has offered to fight a chair. It's all gone a bit wrong.
Things I wish others knew about my illness.
Just because I’m smiling doesn’t mean I’m not in pain.
If I cancel plans it’s not because I don’t want to go, it’s because I physically can’t function.
My appearance has nothing to do with how I feel.
Just because I try to stay positive doesn’t mean I’m better.
My fatigue is not the same as your tiredness.
@ZJAyres Thank you for consistently calling out the taken-for-granted privileges which seem to permeate academia, especially where it is those voices of privilege which have the mental and emotional labour reserves to speak the loudest and therefore, are, taken as status quo
Amazing to see our Supporting #LongCovid Care tool covered in @pulsetoday
I hope my colleagues in primary care find it helpful to give an insight into the complexity, barriers & stigma people who potentially have LC face.

Today is 4 years since the first Covid lockdown in the UK 🇬🇧 anxiety was sky high. Short thread on what we learned about what keeps people well
1) What helped the UK cope with the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns? - What Works Wellbeing https://t.co/dBai83iIEy
In my 15 years of studying neuroscience, I've learned something about recovering from the neurological effects of COVID-19. Recovery often means forming new neural connections, rather than simply restoring the old ones. This can change the way you think and perceive the world, making you differently abled.
Many have faced this challenge and emerged with a renewed sense of what's important in life. Instead of rushing back to 'business as usual,' they've chosen to prioritize their well-being and embrace a new perspective on life. I stand with these humans and the always-principled over living ‘for the gram.’
This is such sad news. I genuinely don't know what else to say. An immense loss to children & young people, & the sector itself. Never has there been a time when the voices of children & young people need to be amplified & heard & their experiences shared more than currently 💔
The British Youth Council is sad to announce its permanent closure after more than 75 years of championing the voices of young people.

@MichelleLefevr1 Good question! I'd argue honest & open relational power analyses may help? Indeed, the initial pandemic response may have 'refocussed' some of the multi agency dynamics usually at play giving far greater primacy to child centred practice i.e. not losing the child (in lockdown)
Looking forward to reading the full paper particularly in relation to post the first lockdown. Orgs creativity and innovation in adapting services quickly in the pandemic certainly chimes with my own PhD findings exploring how CSE safeguarding took place in the first lockdown👇
Our latest paper on how social care innovated during the pandemic to address #extrafamilialharm is now published open access https://t.co/967CcCGj1z…. If you don't have time to read the whole paper, take a look at our infographic! by Delphine Peace @MichelleLefevr1 @GoldsmithCN
@MichelleLefevr1 So...yes...I'm very much looking forward to reading your full paper next week! Thank to you and the team who have produced so many brilliant papers over the course of @InnovateProj
@MichelleLefevr1 Would also be interesting to see if professional anxiety in innovation/a change from the status quo is a presenting factor over time, and if so how it is contained/held? It certainly presented in my findings BUT my data collection was summer 2020 so still very uncertain times 2/n
