The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.”
Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 6018; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 47
Reflection: Our words can comfort, heal and earn reward, but they can also cause harm. Islam teaches us that speech is part of our faith and character.
I agree.
My marriage to my wife has taught me that marriage is a partnership, not competition.
The years leading to our marriage were turbulent for me. But the day I married this woman was the day I married peace into my life.
I married her into extreme lack. She endured the months when there was hardly any money, when we trekked long distances, and when even feeding was a struggle. There was a period when, as a breastfeeding mother, what I could afford was sometimes pap and beans.😃
Then abundance came. Then scarcity came again. We have seen different seasons together.
When I was struggling to raise money for the yoghurt business, she took ₦1 million from her cooperative to support the dream.
When her own career brought an opportunity for us to relocate abroad, it became my turn to stand behind her dream.
When I moved to the UK, she paid a years rent plus a huge deposit and took care of me and our four children while I found my feet.
This is what I understand marriage to be.
It is not about keeping score: “I brought this, you brought that.” Sometimes one person carries more financially. Sometimes the other does. Seasons change.
But through every season, you should know: this person has my back, and I have theirs.
And perhaps one of the things I treasure most is this: in all the years we have been married, through lack, abundance, relocation, raising four children, business failures and successes, I cannot remember one day that my wife deliberately disrespected me or use any negative words on me.
Marriage is two people saying:
“This is OUR life. This is OUR home. These are OUR responsibilities. These are OUR dreams. We will build them together.”
Choose someone who has your back and be the kind of person who has theirs too.
Good evening.
I do not tolerate women being reduced to caricatures for the sake of a joke.
I think it is imperative that you take a moment to go through my page so you can properly understand how deeply I stand for women and how seriously I take the dignity and respect that women deserve. I am unapologetically a feminist to the core, and I do not entertain jokes that make women the bottom line or punchline of an argument.
You are, of course, entitled to your humour, but it will be in your best interest not to bring that kind of joke to my page. Better still, stay within the cause of action here, which is my legitimate demand for transparency and accountability from MTN.
I respect people irrespective of gender, but when it comes to women? I treat them more fragile than egg.
So, if you cannot engage with the actual issue without dragging women into it or reducing them to the butt of a joke, kindly block me or simply stay away from dropping ridiculous quotes on my posts. There is absolutely no shortage of other posts on this app to engage with.
When I wanted to get married, I made a deliberate decision: I never took the engagement list given to me by my in-laws to my family members. I handled everything myself because I knew the kind of relationship and boundaries I wanted to establish from the beginning. I didn’t want a situation where my family would eventually start referring to my wife as “iyawo wa.”
A few years ago, we had a family function, and they requested that my wife come a day before the event after I had already contributed my share for the olópọ̀s. I said no.
I always remind my family: my wife is my wife, not “our wife.”
Setting boundaries in marriage requires a lot of responsibility from the man. You cannot expect your wife to have peace and independence in the marriage if you are constantly allowing your family to cross boundaries.
Sometimes, being the man of the house means having the courage to say NO, even when saying it may not make everyone happy.
Notice the bamboos on the right? This is how i dig the holes for bamboos at both end (slant/) so when it begins to carry load, it will only adjust upright instead of it to start falling off. Free class😂
@h_sanni1 That 514, the course content looks simple till I entered the exam hall 😹
Thank God you didn't choose breeding too, 😹
Congratulations again, Scholar!✨🥳
Unilorin law produced 4 first class students. I only have law school scholarship (500k) for one of them and thats the Overall Best Graduating Student. But I still desire to support and celebrate the rest of them like I did for the set that also produced 4 first class 2years ago.
So this is a call to those who might be willing to join me in celebrating these brilliant students. Making a first class is not an easy task not to talk of law and university of Ilorin.
So please feel free to reach out to me.
@h_sanni1 Ha, 😹 I won't recommend some of it, if you ask me, lol
You are welcome, Scholar. Greater heights, InshaAllah.😁
Hope you are also Agronomy, BGS?🌚
