Habis baca artikel wawancara GQ dengan Reece James. Beberapa poin menarik dan penting:

- Kata Reece James, momen Donald Trump yang gak pindah abis ngasih trofi ke dia pas Chelsea juara CWC itu unik banget dan gak sering terjadi.

- Reece James sejak awal memang fans Chelsea. Idolanya Frank Lampard, John Terry, dan Didier Drogba.

- Reece James sangat senang mengetahui saat Thomas Tuchel jadi pelatih Timnas Inggris. Dia bilang senang bisa dilatih seseorang yang tahu betul potensi dan kemampuan dia. Tuchel adalah pelatih yang bisa memaksimalkan kemampuan individu dan tim, lanjutnya.

- Saat pertama kali dipanggil untuk bermain di Timnas Inggris, orang yang pertama dia telepon adalah ibunya.

- Cedera menjelang Piala Dunia 2022 memberikan motivasi tambahan baginya untuk bisa debut dan kembali dengan lebih kuat di Piala Dunia 2026.

Dear football,

Today, I want to share with you that this season will be my last as a professional footballer. After so many years living my dream, I feel it’s time to start a new chapter in my life.

Being honest, even though I have been preparing myself for this moment, I found it hard to write this letter. After 20 seasons , many people have played an important role in my career.

When I first kicked a ball as a child in Pamplona with my schoolmates, I never imagined the amazing journey ahead. I’m grateful for every moment: the wins, the tough losses, the challenges, and most of all, the people I’ve met and the friendships I’ve made along the way.

To my teammates, coaches, and every staff member at all the clubs I’ve been lucky to be part of, thank you for helping me grow as a person and a player every day. Wearing the shirts of CA Osasuna, Olympique Marseille, Chelsea FC, Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla FC, and representing my country at the biggest stages has been a true privilege. Coba search “Hazard Chelsea Mourinho” di YouTube. Abis itu scroll ke video-video Shorts, dan lo akan nemuin banyak testimoni soal gimana Hazard di Chelsea, langsung dr mantan rekan setimnya dulu.

Ada cerita dari Danny Drinkwater & Jorginho yang kagum banget sama bakatnya. Ada juga cerita dari Todd Kane, pemain jebolan akademi Chelsea yg bilang Hazard pernah makan 2 burger di malem H-1 pertandingan, dan besoknya nyetak hattrick buat Chelsea.

Tapi, semua punya cerita yg sama: Hazard itu pemain yg bakat alaminya one in a trillion, tapi gak serius pas latihan, bahkan males. Tali sepatunya sering gak diiket, 5 menit sebelum pertandingan bisa masih nyantai FaceTime anak-anaknya, dan gak minat belajar soal taktik. Dia cuma mau main, nyerang lawan, abistu ya udah.

Paling menarik buat gue ceritanya John Terry (JT) soal dinamika Hazard & Mourinho. Mind you, JT adalah kapten yg mimpin Chelsea juara 5 titel Premier League, dan dia bicara jujur soal ini.

Kata JT, Mou pernah ngomong ke skuat Chelsea: “Eden ini lebih jago dari kalian semua. Dia bakalan menangin kita [Chelsea] pertandingan, jadi kalian mesti bantu dia.”

Ketimbang minta Hazard nyetel sama taktik dia, Mou nyuruh 10 pemain lain buat nyetel ke Hazard. Cover posisi kalo dia lg roaming, bek sayap wajib lari ekstra kalo dia ga mau track back. Intinya 1 anomali bareng 10 pemain yg mau kerja keras & do the dirty work.

Ada alasan kenapa waktu itu Juan Mata dijual Mou ke Manchester United. Sebagus-bagusnya Mata, dia tetep diminta buat pressing, track back, lari ke sana ke mari. Hazard? Gak perlu segitunya. Hazard itu pengecualian.

Mou pernah bilang: “orang yang cinta sepak bola di negara ini [Inggris] mestinya jatuh cinta sama Eden Hazard.”

Tapi, Mou juga pernah bilang: “Eden yang kita liat di atas lapangan itu bukan refleksi dari hasil latihan, tapi refleksi dari bakatnya.”

Sekarang banyangin Eden Hazard versi lebih profesional itu damage-nya sesakit apa. The best player of all time that never was.
