During Menon's tenure, India launched or expanded indigenous production of Avadi Tank, Shaktiman trucks, Avro cargo aircraft & HF-24 fighter aircraft. He also oversaw the procurement of Gnats, MiGs, and INS Vikrant, which later played key roles in India’s victories in the 1965 and 1971 wars against Pakistan.
This was revival after Partition when about one-third of the British Indian Army personnel went to Pakistan, and India also lost military infrastructure located in territories that became Pakistan.

Menon’s role in supporting Egypt during the Suez Crisis against the Anglo-French-Israeli intervention strengthened his ties with Gamal Abdel Nasser, who later supported India by blocking Portuguese warships in 1961 while Liberation of Goa.

His 8-hour marathon speech on Kashmir against Anglo-Saxon powers who wanted a Palestine-like solution in the Subcontinent was impactful enough for him to be called “India’s Rasputin” by hostile Pakistani and Western diplomats.

Menon establish India League in 1928, advocating for Indian independence even before the INC’s Purna Swaraj Declaration. He built links with the Labour Party and British elites, contributing to the campaign for India’s freedom in Britain. His contribution was a distinct third stream alongside the revolutionary, nationalist, and INC-led movements. When Labour came to power, it ultimately granted India independence. Another contribution ignorant Indians have forgotten.
