Any time y'all include Saitama, I need y'all to also understand what a "gag character" is.
He is a parody. A trope. His strength is infinite. It scales with no limit. Whatever power level his opponent has, he'll always be above it.
in marvel comics terms this is like if Dazzler had beef with Franklin Richards without knowing he’s the Fantastic Four’s kid and now everyone in NYC is mad as hell
People still don’t understand that sports is also a business. Talent matters, yes. Hard work matters. But visibility, marketability, and audience impact matter too.
Why are some of you mad that Alex Eala is being promoted more than other players? She is bringing people into the sport. She is filling seats. She is generating engagement. That doesn’t happen randomly.
Do you really think she was promoted out of nowhere? No. She performed well in a major tournament and that’s where it started. Results open the door. But what keeps it open is everything else. Her composure. Her charisma. The way she connects with the crowd. And of course, the Filipino fan base. We are loud, loyal, and we show up.
Sports organizations notice that. Sponsors notice that. Tournament directors definitely notice that.
I remember during one of the Dubai matches, I can’t even remember if it was her first or second one, a group of Arab men sat beside me. They asked if Alex was the best player in the Philippines. I said, “She’s the only one.” He laughed and said, “Well, that makes her the best. We will cheer for her for you.”
And they did.
That’s how it works. One player draws attention, and suddenly people who didn’t even plan to care are invested. That’s not favoritism. That’s impact.
If you’re bringing people to the sport, you will get promoted. That’s not unfair. That’s smart business.
