GENIUS… OR A DANGEROUS IDEA?🚨
Captain Ibrahim Traoré just declared an end to endless theoretical PhD theses.
His stance: “If you’re an engineer, manufacture or build something real. We will no longer support long papers that produce nothing.”
Brutal reality: Thousands of African PhDs write 300-page theses… then protest outside ministries, begging for jobs. Job consumers, not creators.
Every nation that industrialised rapidly prioritised applied engineering and reverse-engineering first.
Pure theory came later. Some will say: “But European students do PhDs without inventing anything.”
True, because Europe already industrialised centuries ago.
Catch-up economies don’t have the same https://t.co/bhUxDeT83Z Traoré fixing a broken system, or is he overstepping? A conversation that's confusing
learn to go where wealthy people go. you don’t have to spend like them, you just have to stop feeling like you don’t belong there.
i remember when i couldn’t afford the lifestyle i wanted yet.
every friday evening, i’d walk into a high end hotel lobby, order one coffee, sit in the same corner and open my laptop like i belonged there. nobody knew i was going back to a small brokie apartment after 😂 all they saw was someone comfortable in that environment. week after week, something changed.
i stopped feeling like an outsider. i studied how people spoke, how they carried themselves, how deals were discussed and how confidence looked in real life.
one night, a man approached me cos he assumed i was a regular. that conversation opened a door to an opportunity i wasn’t qualified for on paper but i carried myself like i was. do you know that months later, my reality caught up with that environment i had been exposing myself to. nothing magical happened. i simply stopped seeing that world as theirs and started seeing it as a place i belonged too
i will repeat this again;
if you spend all day at a fish market, you’ll leave smelling like fish even if you never touched one but spend your day in a perfume shop and you’ll carry the scent even if you didn’t buy anything, that’s how environment works. it rubs off, whether you realize it or not. the scent of your environment will always follow you.
wealth starts with familiarity before it starts with money. your mind has to accept a reality before ur life can build it. learn something, buena suerte.
One of the realest conversations I have encountered online: on how economic standing influences men's perception of romantic relationships, and their (un)willingness to participate in the institution of marriage.
You know the talk is real when every man melts into their own mind. You can tell they have all lived it. And are reliving it. Keep fighting regardless. Do your best, let the world handle the rest. 💪
@amerix It is exactly the same thing as Riggy G, a former UDA member and sharehoelder forming DCP after ditching his previous party, then boom, minions from his region are rallying emotionally behind him like the savior he seems to them.
This song is called Tres impoli (You are impolite) by Franco Makiadi, the leader of TPOK Jazz.
The song is 42 years old. It was recorded in 1984 in Gabon.
It is about an impolite, mannerless man.
The truth about this song is that Franco was impatient with a band member called Papa Ndombe Opetum, whom he sent to police remand for stealing a piece of meat.
Opetum was a stubborn, mannerless band member who, whenever he was sent to buy meat, sliced a portion for himself.
In fact, one of the songs composed for him by Simaro Lutumba, called Mbongo (Money), was later recorded by another obedient member, Djo Mpoyi, because Opetum had misbehaved.
When he sliced Franco's meat, Franco called the police on him. After staying in remand for 2 weeks, Opetum took off and rejoined Tabu Ley's band, Afrisa International.
He is seen here with Tabu Ley's band in a London Live concert, dancing like a comedian in Beyou Ciel's song Embouroumounkoue at 0:04 - 0:08 (https://t.co/isiWn6836M)
It is after Opetum left that Franco composed this song, Tres Impoli (Why are you impolite?)
My favourite verse in the song: 3:25
Chaussette etoboka - (Your socks are torn.)
Okoti na ndako ya bato oti makolo na mesa. Nzoka ezali mesa bato ba lelaka. - (You enter someone’s house and put your legs on the table. Yet people use that table to eat.)
This was Opetum's character.
Later, in 1988, when Franco was sick in Belgium, Opetum sneaked back to TPOK, where he composed two hits, ANGELA and TAWABA (https://t.co/aolQYdYCAe.)
Opetum collapsed and died in Kinshasa on 24th May 2012, aged 68 years.
Vean estos 7 minutos. No tienen desperdicio.
@ToniKroos 🚨 BREAKING NEWS: A 40-minute film has just been released featuring all of Argentina's robberies.
It's a worldwide scandal. https://t.co/jG92KTkTtQ
Kuna difference kupika chai na kuchemsha chai.
If you don't make tea like this wewe ni wa kuchemsha chai , don't invite us tea enthusiasts to your house, just take it alone hizo ma flat bland things zako.
Chai inafaa kupikwa my fren.
Totally unrelated but Rift valley areas ziko full of rich milk, good milk but the worst teas I've taken in my life ni kwa most towns in both north and south rift.
Me sijui nani alisema utamu wa chai ni sugar mingi. Those hotels za huko huweka mumias yote kwa chai, then majani ni kidogo, haija boil poa, totally baddd!!
Infact if you cook your tea well you won't need sugar
This is the kind of tea i take before i sleep sasa😋
Reminds me of how in the aftermath of the Great Financial Crisis of 2008 where the whole world and their dog could see the banks and bankers that destroyed the global economy, the British authorities found a single Ghanaian UBS trader called Kweku Adoboli, hung the entire financial crisis on his neck (accused him of rigging LIBOR singlehandedly), gave him a 7-year prison sentence for doing the same thing that like 1,000 other bankers on Canary Wharf did, and then deported him from the UK after his sentence.
Literally nobody in the entire City of London went to jail for 2008 except one Ghanaian commodity trader😆😆😆
