The European Commission has released a voluntary Code of Practice to help companies prepare for the EU’s new AI rules, which take effect on August 2, 2026.

Under the AI Act, users must be clearly informed when they are interacting with AI, and AI-generated or AI-edited content, including deepfakes, must be labeled so people know it was created or modified by AI.

Companies that fail to follow these transparency rules can face fines of up to €15 million or 3% of their global annual revenue, whichever is higher.
