@itsolelehmann Or you could just create an an environment that is friendly to dragonflies & bats. In addition to not having standing water. Personally, I’d much rather have that than the annoying buzzing of a drone.
@janrosenow@TrackOilPACs It’s not renewable energy when we are destroying valuable land for people and nature to exist. Keep solar in the urban areas or small scale for homes
Weirdly, too many people think climate change just means we'll each have to adapt to hotter weather and bigger storms. It's far worse than that. You can't air-condition crops.
No wheat, no rice. Mass starvation. Banking and governmental collapse.
Not generations hence. Soon
@krystalball you guys should have on @alex_fasulo to discuss the completely corrupt destruction of multiple protected habitats in New York in a move that mocks the renewable in renewable energy. These are lands we desperately need to conserve!

Upstream of most of the world’s current problems is this simple fact:
*Attention oriented social-media radicalizes everything by design.*
Until we address this meta-issue, there is no possibility of consensus, progress, or positive community.
What people fear about entering Russia is already the new normal in the USA. My colleague in PolSci entered the USA from Europe recently to attend ISA Convention. Her colleagues, all Germans, were forced to open their laptops and show content of their research presentations. 1/
A corrupt campaign finance system: Republicans who stand up to Trump will be primaried by Elon Musk’s money.
Democrats who stand up to Netanyahu will be primaried by AIPAC.
This corrupt system is a cancer for democracy.
End Citizens United. Public funding for elections.
Heard about a big breach over at #Volkswagen?
Here's whats going on. You should know that every major car company collects your driving data. Per @mozilla:
100% of car companies over- collect your data
84% share/sell it
92% provide insufficient control over data.
Most pour it into the shady data-broker ecosystem.
Where it goes to god-knows who. And represents a potentially exciting stream of surveillance data for governments, blackmailers and criminal groups.
Per Mozilla, a majority also turn it over to governments directly.
And give it to insurance companies.
We got here partly because car companies turned to mining owners for movement data in search of new revenue streams. And partly for in-house R&D, market research etc. etc.
Collection has gone way up on EVs.
Unfortunately, disrespect for your #privacy is a common through-line, and is a conclusion many will draw from how sloppy companies can be in protecting it.
Unsecured @awscloud instance @VW? Seriously?
(note #VW's software subsidiary @cariad_tech did take quick action & pull the data when #CCC reported the issue to them)
We are still in earliest days of people investigating and sounding the alarm, but things are bound to get worse as more #EVs hit the roads.
New Years wish: car review YouTuber & publication would follow @ConsumerReports lead and start systematically talking about this when reviewing cars.
The problem is not going to go away.
