I've seen more and more law enforcement agencies post more and more juvenile situations - and few merit (some do) public knowledge. I'm all here for adult criminals to be noticed. But let's let tweens and teens be stupid and be rehabilitated. Not humiliated.
I try to stay nonpolitical, but few things fry me as much as seeing posted videos of kids being perp-walked. A sheriff's office posted video of an 11-year-old who made a threat. Got it. Kid's home had weapons. OK.
There's a juvenile justice system for this type of thing.
And I'm not saying there shouldn't be a concern. I'm saying 1+x does not necessarily = 2. A threat can be a crime; but it does not merit a perp-walk video nor a mugshot to be released. Not of a kid. Not without compelling evidence he was about to act on his threat.
James Earl Jones at NYC Prayer Service on Sept. 23, 2001: “Our nation is united as never before. We are united not only in our grief, but also in our resolve to build a better world. At this service we seek to summon what Abraham Lincoln called the better angels of our nature."
It's not that I'm anti-social or against ever being a part of a group. I'm just glad that I don't owe allegiance to many things in this life. I should probably leave it at that.
University of Florida previously declined to turn over this report for which it paid McKinsey $4.7 million in public money in response to formal request 16 months ago under state's public records law; example of how gov't agencies hide public records when it suits them #foia
I tell everyone to go to Arlington National if they are near D.C. It is profound and humbling. If any official there said anything to me, I'd immediately comply. I'd be forever mortified for even the hint of impropriety while there.
Today marks the anniversary of the tragic death of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old whose brutal murder on this day in 1955 became a catalyst for the Civil Rights Movement. We remember Emmett Till and honor his legacy by continuing the fight for justice and equality.

@nwi_jsp Joseph, I'm so sorry to hear this. Man, I'm so, so sorry for you. You're a great guy and I know how much your brother meant to you. You're in my thoughts. Sincerely thinking about you right now.

I saw my first Tesla car driving on the highway. The driver was a modern day cowboy. There was no mechanical resonance. It was heaven's trail. My kid wanted to listen to a love song and it was the great radio controversy. These are signs, people. Signs.
