Careers I’ve tried in my 20s;

- Law, studied it for 7 years, practiced for 2.
- Tech, wanted to be a frontend engineer. Learnt html to a decent point. Gave up by the way side. God punish Java.
- Business, my 2 friends and I started our hair business— BFT hairs, put capital together but got scammed by our wholesaler. The hairs never came. End of business
- Commercial Banking, worked in the bank for a minute. Liked being addressed as a banker.
- Trusteeship, brief too. Enjoyed being a corporate trustee than a private trustee. Private trust was really just… private.
- Investment banking, quite different from commercial banking. Still on the journey.

Is this the end? Absolutely not!

You need to add flavour to whatever you are studying at postgraduate level.

If your undergraduate degree is in Mathematics, don't limit yourself to Mathematics alone. You can go for Actuarial Science, Data Science, Mathematical Biology, Financial Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, and many other applied areas.

If you studied Biology, you can consider fields such as Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Science, Environmental Biology, Marine Biology, and other applied areas.

If you studied Physics, you can look at fields such as Medical Physics, Geophysics, Astrophysics, Renewable Energy, Materials Science, Computational Physics, and many others.

The world is changing. At postgraduate level, try to add a new dimension to what you already know. Your undergraduate degree gives you the foundation, but your postgraduate degree can give you a specialization and open new doors.

Don't just study for the sake of adding another degree to your CV. Think about how you can combine what you already know with what the world needs today.
