The Greatest Archaeological Discoveries in Europe 🏛️
What lies beneath our feet?
Let’s unearth 12 of the most astonishing finds from the past century 🧵👇
I had wanted to give in, then this happened.
It was several months after the 1st release of the Dualo platform.
Years of emotions were bottled below the surface. I could feel it.
“We did it!” I tapped into our team's Slack channel.
My 2 Co-Founders quickly replied. “What do you mean?”
“We hit 1000 search queries”
“In total?”
“No. Like, one customer. This month they hit 1000 unique search queries in their repository. And look, they’re from a ton of different roles - even the CEO is in there!”
“Holy shit!”
I slumped into my chair. It was like every knot in my body that I had been holding onto melted all at once.
When I think back to it, the feeling I had wasn’t happiness. It was relief. Relief that we’d finally found the right combination of technology and processes to start realising the dream we’d had years earlier.
Years of doubts, years of experimentation, years of getting things wrong and getting back up to try again had FINALLY turned into a truly positive step towards our goals to drive the UX Research field forward by generating impact and engagement for research insights.
It felt like we had broken into a new plane.
1000s upon 1000s of searches later, it was, and still is, one of our biggest moments.
It was the beginning of our next chapter as a business, but also in our eyes, the next chapter for knowledge management.
Since then, we’ve found that some teams get there fast. Some get there slowly. But everyone gets there eventually, as long as you don’t give up.
Keep moving forward, keep trying things, and keep believing it can happen.
And, it will.

Building a #ResearchRepository? Don't make this mistake...
Many UX Research teams put a ton of time and effort into building a research repository, and then do a huge, company wide launch.
Then, after an initial surge of interest... crickets.
In my experience big bang launches rarely work, in fact, they either fall flat, or lose momentum very quickly.
The most successful repository launches we've seen have all started with a small engaged network of users (or ‘champions’) for their repository.
Take inspiration from the principles outlined in Andrew Chen's book: The Cold Start Problem.
Andrew led Growth product teams at Uber in its early days, and in his book he talks about the concept of “the network effect”.
He argues that if you can create a small, stable, and engaged network of users, you can leverage that to drive organic growth and wider adoption.
Remember, Facebook started at a single university campus, and Uber started in a single city.
Building a small, highly engaged network of active users for your research repository, gathering feedback, and growing from there is a far more effective strategy than launching globally right from the start.
Think big, but start small.

The numerous shoots and creative collaborations throughout @dualohq’s journey have been a career highlight for me.
Here's an unofficial outtake from one of the very first with HAM Productions, curtesy of @neek_r.
Here's to Monday's shoot (👀), and many more 🚀
My birthday's coming up, and I'm feeling grateful.
I'm incredibly proud of our Academy team for their achievements. Their dedication to refining and delivering an industry-leading framework to hundreds of happy customers these past 4 years is truly inspiring.
Feeling fortunate to work with such great people.
In the arena of public markets, a stark divide is emerging: those embracing AI and those who are not.
Make no mistake...
This isn't just a trend; it's a seismic shift that will be reshaping industries for many years to come.
This graphic illuminates a critical truth: inaction is not an option.

How often do you fail these 'prove you're human' tests?
On average, I'd say I need at least 2 attempts (this one is actually my 3rd attempt).
Does it make me less human? Or is the test somewhat flawed?
One thing's for certain - it's frustrating.

You've been responding to stakeholder requests for #research and all wrong...
When stakeholders come calling, they need insights fast.
“Sure, I’ll take a look, I should be able to get something back to you by tomorrow”
‘Should’?! ‘Tomorrow’?!
To become a top 1% research team, you need to get faster at responding to requests for insights.
The faster you are, the more quickly you'll move from ‘producers’ to ‘advisors’ in the eyes of stakeholders and leadership.
But so many research teams have no idea what (or how much) insight they have on any given topic...
It’s why they waste hours searching through old reports, drives, and wikis, just to answer simple questions from important stakeholders.
This not only delays the stakeholder's decision-making process (meaning they’re less likely to ask in the future), but also exacts a toll on the researcher due to lost time and constant context switching.
Top 1% research teams are able to surface the RIGHT information, at the RIGHT time, for the RIGHT people.
That’s why they’re truly valued by senior stakeholders and leadership.
How to action this:
Start building collections of insights around the topics and questions that come up time and time again so that your team is more prepared when those questions inevitably come in.
You can do this in a spreadsheet, a slide deck, or a repository tool.
It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t even have to be ‘self-servable’ initially.
What matters is that you’re able to quickly draw upon valuable insights, when they’re needed.
🚨Warning 🚨
The faster your ability to answer questions, the more questions you’ll receive.
Research case studies enable UXR teams to promote their insights and practice to internal audiences and receive wider recognition for their work - but what do the top 1% of researchers include in their case studies to maximise readability and impact?

You’ve been sharing your UX research findings all wrong.
Many teams mistakenly prioritise sharing their process and analysis, when in fact, these should be treated as supplementary appendix items at best.
Generally speaking, how you arrived at your insights is a level of detail that doesn't aid stakeholders with decision making.
Sure, some stakeholders will want to dive below the surface, others may want to understand the facts, but many just need to understand:
- What we know (aka the insight)
- Why this is important (aka how this links to top level growth metrics or bottom line cost reduction for the company), and
- What to do next (aka your recommendations).
Consider using a GPS to navigate, you trust that it will lead you to your destination. You don't necessarily need to understand the intricate algorithms and mapping techniques behind it; you just need to know where to turn next and how long it will take to get there.
So if you're looking to elevate your team from being recognised as ‘producers’ to ‘advisors’, and ensure your insights are actioned, shift your focus to communicating:
1️⃣ Know what
2️⃣ So what
3️⃣ Now what
