Brazil will likely play either the Netherlands or Japan in the RO32 and then one of France/Germany/Senegal/Norway/Ecuador/Ivory Coast in the RO16. There will be no international “minnows” to lose to. Historically maybe but all of these teams are very strong now.
bear in mind that this is a tournament which has been hosted by Italy under Mussolini's rule and by Argentina in the midst of its dirty war. and the two most recent hosts were Qatar and Russia. lol.
i was so confused about why my dad was really keen on checking out the Argentina friendly tonight and then i was like ohhh he's scouting for the Algeria game lmao
And I keep forgetting that Fortaleza is the biggest city in northern Brazil. Also constantly thrown off by how massive Nigeria and Russia are like damn so many big cities that I know absolutely nothing about.
Been doing a lot of “most populous cities” quizzes as of late and it’s getting to the point where I don’t have the capacity to remember more than 30 Chinese cities.
@JuneVanBloem This one might hurt the most for me. We coulda had Senegal in the semifinal against Brazil if Camara didn’t accidentally block a goal from an offside position…
@JuneVanBloem@TrashTweetsOnIy@pipobakayarou@Ankaman616 the Rose Bowl and Cotton Bowl are the two that come to mind which are situated in big cities but of course FIFA/the organizing committees preferred the fancier, newer NFL stadiums.
@CarmanTse@achassi lmao yeah that's the one. a ricochet plus two penalties against Panama, two tap ins against Tunisia, a penalty against Colombia, nothing after the round of 16. it's his job to score tbf but it's definitely the weakest output for a golden boot winner in the postwar era.
Feel like I’m being gaslit by the way folks talk about international football on here. The 2018 World Cup was ass. The 2010 World Cup was poor. Every Euros since 2008 has been terrible. Put down the nostalgia goggles.
