I have had the same on a few plugin and theme downloads that I have bought. I never found it confusing. So I haven't even thought of changing it

And at some points the links when you clicked 1 time was set as downloaded. So instead of us handling loads of broken downloads customer gets a certain time to get it.

We do provide you with the link and docs that will build your own image that will be based on something built today. You don't have to buy anything.

We have also spent loads of time researching bugs and assist the community on our spare time.

All because you did not get a new download link to start from scratch. Something that costs 36 euro for a new link.

But the base is a standard Ubuntu vm. And most configurations are standard.

And no we don't do automatic upgrade to a new Ubuntu major. But we do have auto minor upgrades in the vm.
