between 23:00 and 04:00 veynor swaps its question to "what's keeping you up?" and stops trying to be sharp.
whatever you write gets held until morning, when you're someone whose judgment is worth having again
the weight was never the tasks themselves.
it was carrying the list around in my head.
and the list stopped growing the week i started doing everything the same day
One thing @Veynor_MD made clear; There is a move where you know you were wrong, you say nothing, and you slowly adjust so that over time it looks like you were never wrong at all.
I have done plenty of that. It is more work, not less. You have to maintain the story and remember which version each person got.
Saying it plainly costs about eight seconds. And here is the part I did not expect: most people do not want an apology. They want to know you saw it. Once they know you saw it, the whole thing loses its charge.
Yeah. Sometimes you don’t need advice, a solution, or someone to tell you what to do.
You just need someone to put into words what you’ve already been thinking, but haven’t quite been able to say to yourself.
And there’s something strangely relieving about hearing your own thoughts reflected back clearly. It can turn a vague feeling you’ve been carrying for weeks or months into something concrete: “Ah. That’s actually what’s been bothering me.”
Sometimes the clarity was already there. You just needed a mirror.
you can't compare two futures you haven't written down.
so write both disasters. twelve months out, be specific.
one of them is always bluffing. this is how you find out which.
