Something about equipment manufacturers still producing a tried and true economical machine but not offering it stateside really pisses me off. I’m not calling CaseIH out specifically, John Deere and others do the same thing.
This tire setup is called “it doesn’t matter if it rains”
Spent countless hours in that combine as a kid. Was quite the upgrade to go from a 5 gallon bucket in a 1440 to a real buddy seat. Two of my neighbors bought it from a farmer who was upgrading two or three 2388’s
I’ve always admired this operation. Saw them doing morning maintenance on my way north and had to stop in to meet them.
He said their newest tractor is a 40 series Deere. They also have a 6620 that stays in corn that their dad runs. I won’t share the number of acres he told me

Do you like grey beans or brown beans?
Personally I dislike brown beans. Dusty, fuzzy, ugly. Can’t stand em. Always enjoy pulling into a field of shiny silver ones.
who has had the opportunity to run season long demos of brand new equipment, and rents ground 100 miles from home.
I can understand the hamster wheel is severely broken, while still being stuck on said hamster wheel.
Wish the world wasn’t driven by greed and chasing diminishing marginal productivity. Farming this way and feeding your community/family sounds a lot more fun than feeding the world.
And yes this is coming from an “influencer” who has had the opportunity to run season long demos
What is the benefit of a grain cart that holds more than 1,000 bushels but less than 2,000 bushels?
I’m talking 1,300 - 1,500 - 1,700 bushel carts. Wouldn’t dragging extra bushels around be unnecessary since it’s not ever going to be a full semi load? Genuinely curious
We got to learn a lot about him the day we went to pick it up. We’re proud to get Jerome’s corn picker back in the field and doing what it was made to do.
My dad said the last time they picked ear corn on their operation was either 50 or 51 years ago this Fall. What’s old
Never picked ear corn before in our lives. Until today. my father worker and I got this New Idea picker from a great family in eastern Illinois a few months ago. The previous owners father used to pick with it each Fall back in the 60’s and 70’s. We got to learn a lot!!!
