In a marriage, many things matter. But there is one need that, if unmet, can quietly erode the bond over time.
For women, feeling uniquely adored by their husband is not about flattery or romance in the abstract. It is a signal of commitment. Adoration communicates, “You matter above all others. I am here. I am choosing you.” When that signal fades, it can feel like the foundation itself is weakening.
This is not about grand gestures. It is about consistently conveying devotion, protection, and presence. When a spouse no longer feels uniquely chosen, the relationship begins to drift, often long before either person can name what is wrong.
Strong marriages are built on love that is not just assumed, but clearly felt.
You can’t change someone. But you will anyway.
Not through arguments or ultimatums or that thing you do where you get really quiet and hope they’ll notice you’re upset. (They never do, by the way. They just think you’re tired.) You’ll change them the way water changes stone, by being around them long enough that they start to see themselves through your eyes.
I dated someone who interrupted everyone. Constantly. Mid-sentence, mid-thought, didn’t matter. It drove me insane for months. Then one night at dinner with friends, I watched her do it again, and this time she caught herself. She looked at me, then back at the person she’d cut off, and said, “Sorry, keep going.” Nobody else even noticed. But I knew: she’d started hearing herself the way I heard her.
That’s the thing they don’t mention when they say “accept people as they are.” You do accept them. And then they feel that acceptance so deeply that they finally have enough safety to look at the parts of themselves they’ve been running from their whole lives. Not because you demanded it. Because you made space for it.
But here’s the trap: if you’re asking “can I change her” with a specific outcome in mind, you’ve already lost. You’re not in a relationship anymore. You’re in a renovation project. And people can smell that a mile away. They can feel when your love has conditions attached. It makes them smaller, more defended, and less likely to grow into anything you’d actually want. Honestly, it usually just makes them better at hiding.
The real question isn’t whether you can change someone. It’s whether you can love someone enough that they feel free to change themselves. And whether the direction they’re growing is toward you or away from you.
Sometimes you date someone, and she becomes kinder, more thoughtful, and more herself. Sometimes she becomes exactly who she’s always been, just louder. And sometimes, this is the one that hurts; she grows into someone beautiful. Just not someone beautiful for you.
You can’t control which one happens. You can only decide how long you’re willing to wait to find out.
Minds wander roughly 50% of the time, and happiness drops when it does.
In a large 2010 study, people were happiest when focused on the present moment. Even pleasant daydreaming didn’t help.
Children often reserve their most intense emotions for their mothers because they view her as a secure, unconditional “safe base” where they can release stress without fear of rejection.
This pattern is strongly supported by attachment theory, which explains that children express their biggest feelings with the caregiver they trust most.
Mothers are often that primary attachment figure, so emotional outbursts can actually signal a healthy, secure relationship rather than disrespect or defiance.
According to research from the Child Mind Institute, children feel safest expressing overwhelm to the caregiver who provides the most consistent comfort.
Understanding this dynamic helps parents respond with empathy and recognize that these big emotions are a sign of deep trust and emotional safety.
Find every single thing to be celebrated. Do this intentionally.
Life becomes heavier as time goes by. You're not gonna survive if you keep choosing to only see the dark.
A mistake that cost me 2 years: Thinking preparation was progress. Reading every book. Taking every course. Planning every detail. Meanwhile, someone dumber than me started badly and figured it out. Preparation feels productive but it's often just fear dressed up as strategy. You learn to swim by getting in the water, not by studying water.
Lintasan hati je tu tapi Allah Maha Mendengar :')
The real problem is, most of us were raised by parents who were just surviving so they taught us survival, not life. No one sat us down to explain how debt works, how to self soothe, how to say 'no' without guilt, or how to walk away from love that hurts. We weren't shown what emotional safety looks like, we were just told to keep the peace, suppress the feelings and work harder. Now we're adults paying bills on autopilot, spiraling in relationships, mistaking burnout for success and calling anxiety our personality. Lost, overwhelmed and wondering why we feel broken when in reality, we were just never taught the basics of being whole.
You’re Lucky.
If your family paid your bills.
If you went overseas to study.
If you never had to take a PTPTN loan.
Your success didn’t come from just hard work, it came from the position you were born into.
So use your privilege wisely. But never feel entitled to it.
Sounds counterintuitive,
but if you can complain about being anxious for a long time then you don’t have enough responsibility.
Commit to more things.
Say yes.
Brain should become so scattered and numb that it reorganises itself under duress. Chaos. Panic.
You’ll mess up so many things that you’ll realise most of it never mattered. It was never that serious.
Disappoint people. They’ll move on and get over it.
Your mind clears to find its rhythm, and with a clear head you realise how many re-runs and opportunities you get.
Genuine abundance.
It’s never over.
Your catastrophe was mostly fake and made up by you.
You realise the only wealth in this world is the luxury of your own cadence.
