A-Reece must have been really locked in when he made "Today's Tragedy, Tomorrow's Memory"
You only make that type of project when you're in your element without pressure.

DJ plays the record. The band writes the history. The greatest African Artists and most decorated house holds names across genres Burnaboy ( Outsiders) , Fela ( Africa 70 & Egypt 80), Sunny Ade (African Beats), Fally Ipupa (FVictim) , Youssou Ndour ( Super L’Etoile), Koffi Olomide ( Quartier Latin) etc build legacies with dedicated bands. This was & even today is no accident. This is no shade at music DJ’s ! A live band can extend the bridge, break down and rebuild the chorus, drop into a percussion solo that holds the crowd for hours. The music becomes an event. The song becomes a memory. The artist becomes something the crowd carries home in their body, not their playlist. For the current generation of Afrobeats acts , it’s either you build the band or concede the Legacy.
This is not a critique of the current generation's talent. It is a challenge to their ambition. The musicians who will be discussed in 30 years the way Fela, Sunny Ade, Burna , Fally & Youssou Ndour etc are discussed today are the ones who ALSO build something that cannot be downloaded. A band is a living institution. It demands investment in musicians, in rehearsal, in the kind of collective discipline that separates a touring act from a touring artist. It is harder, more expensive, more logistically demanding than a DJ setup. It is also the only path to the highest ground.

Yes I did. Played a huge role in building my confidence in speaking and writing. I would later build a marketing company without any prior qualifications except for that foundation.
