Irish-American with a Viking tinge. Aspiring novelist/poet/screenwriter. Cinephile. Bibliophile. Music lover. I keep odd hours like the vampires in Near Dark
The 35MM open matte scan that gets posted all the time obviously makes it more noticeable but I’ve always had such a soft spot for the softer, grainier texture of the first film, even if I prefer Bill Pope’s visual/composition style in Spider-man 2/3.
I do think one of the key elements of Harry & Peter's friendship (both in Raimi & in the comics) is that they're each other's first real friends so they stay friends despite how insanely toxic their dynamic is. Franco & Maguire have good chemistry for that specific dynamic
since the MCU basically stole Miles’ best friend and turned him into Ned Leeds, i think it’s only fair that MCU Miles gets a new best friend who’s wealthy, mysterious, and has a suspiciously green goblin-shaped father
So funny how increasingly shitty Peter’s life is in Spider-Man 2. Hey man sorry about the bank rejecting you for that loan. Btw Doc Ock’s here to kidnap your aunt. Hey man sorry your girl just got engaged to an astronaut. Btw your boss is pissed you’re not getting pictures of it.
i know COVID is only getting relitigated because Republicans want a cheap shot in the arm before the midterms, but i really have no idea what you do about Americans being so painfully out of touch with reality about what happened during the pandemic
backrooms is a great case for movies saying less. i wanted more found footage and more tone poem shit, and way less explication about exactly why clark is evil and async is evil and what the backrooms is. who cares
It’s remarkable that you can say Jurassic Park has “no big themes” when Jeff Goldblum looks directly into the camera and says, “Worship of technology with no limits or ethical restraints will be the ruin of humanity.”
a big problem with the MCU is how empty the characters’ lives are and how few interests they have outside of their job. everyone’s main interest is superheroes. Peter’s a talented photographer! Steve Rogers is an artist! there should be tension with how their jobs overshadow that
choreography in this scene is cool (and Dafoe is great obviously) but it could simply never be an iconic Spider-Man action sequence because visually it’s so murky and the setpiece is a total non-entity. just a dimly lit fight in a random apartment complex. boring and ugly imo!!
SM2 isn’t a masterpiece bc Peter is suffering all the time. It’s one because it treats its characters like real people with full lives beyond the bounds of the scenes we’re watching and that allows us to fully invest in their drama.
Lo más triste del caso de Karen es que ella murió estando en recuperación por su anorexia. Creía que estaba mejorando y curando, pero el daño acumulado por el tca ya era irreversible. Realmente es una enfermedad diabólica.

The entire battle for the future of the Democratic Party is basically a fight between populists who are willing to voice this truth, and corporatists who deny this truth.
