So sorry to hear this news about Badsha. He was a true gentleman, a lovely man and a good friend. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and I send love and condolences to his family, who have lost him far too young.
@lenovo_UKI yesterday you asked me to take my complaint that you have failed to refund my father for an order he cancelled over a month ago offline. Now you are not responding to my private messages. Is this your normal standard of customer service?
@lenovo_UKI why have you not refunded my 84 year old dad for a purchase he changed his mind about but you delivered anyway OVER A MONTH AGO? He refused delivery & has been trying to get his money back since 1 July.
What has been missing for decades is an honest debate, without tribal ranting, of what we want and what we are prepared to pay for. And I can’t see that changing anytime soon…. 2/2
Feels like this leadership election is dodging the key issue facing the Conservative Party: you can't have Thatcher levels of taxation & Johnson levels of public spending - particularly given damage Brexit has done to economy + increased demand for public services post COVID 1/2
True you can’t have both lower taxes and higher spend long term. But if the last 20 yrs has taught us anything, it is that no matter how much extra you put in to biggest spending services, outcomes remain poor because the services themselves are structurally dysfunctional 1/2

My last tweet as a Conservative councillor in Croydon! It has been an honour and privilege to serve the people of Sanderstead for 20 years. Wishing the new ward team, residents, and new Executive Mayor @CllrJPerry good fortune in the coming years.
What can be better than hearing two little girls happily playing in your garden who 3 days ago were in Kyiv #Ukraine What a journey they’ve had, I’m humbled to be a part in their next adventure #Swindon https://t.co/mh6BjuggDw
A big thank you to the council planning committee for refusing the dreadful proposed backland development at 34a and b Arkwright Road. Rare to see a horrible development refused in Sanderstead, but I can retire as a councillor next week knowing we did something good tonight.
Appalling to learn that the council didn’t ‘fess up to this appointment for 18 months. Straight from the Vladimir Putin songbook of truth and transparency. #croydonlive
We now have @JasonCroydonCon asking about Croydon Affordable Homes.
Labour appointed a previous Labour Councillor as a director to this company, which is now leaving £73 MILLION of risk hanging over the Council.
Cronyism at its finest!

@HamidaAli76 why can you not answer a simple question? Why do you think it is right for our elected mayor to be ‘scrutinised’ by a chair of scrutiny from the same party? Having a Labour chair scrutinising Labour for the last 8 yrs has not been a great success! #croydonlive
@CroydonLabour crowing all night about how Croydon’s budget is balanced. Of course it is: it must be balanced by law. But balanced does not = good. A terrible, catastrophic budget for a council must be balanced. As this one is.
@HamidaAli76 your selective memory is at it again. You assert that Croydon gets less per residents than, say, Lambeth. That’s true, as it was in 2006 when we had a Labour government!
First question is from Mayoral Candidate @CllrJPerry, asking whether the Failing Labour Council regrets pouring money into a tangled web of subsidiary companies, that has now led to them “losing” £70 MILLION.
Leader Ali’s answer - ‘no’.

Budget Council Meeting. Labour Leader Ali asked whether she regrets her financial mishandling leading to bankruptcy.
She blames the auditors, "advisors", the weather, Wembley, Lords, Wimbledon, and even the Opposition!
Anyone but her own party.
