I have a friend who is almost 30 and works in a very good company on the island. Every weekday, she leaves home as early as 4am just to beat traffic and get to work on time, and she doesn’t get back home until around 10–11pm at night.
Her salary is really good, like really good… but here’s the part that’s hard to understand.
Her parents have refused to let her move out and rent an apartment closer to her workplace. Their reason is that they don’t want their daughter living alone. They say her future husband is supposed to meet her in their house, not in her own apartment.
But here’s what makes it even more confusing… her brothers who she is older than were allowed to move out and rent their own places.
When she first got the job, her parents were even the ones receiving her salary.
Honestly, I don’t even know what to call this anymore strict parenting, control, or just fear… but I keep wondering how long someone can live like this before it starts affecting everything. What do you think?
You stay home because it’s expensive outside, they complain that you don’t go out enough.
You try to socialize by taking what you can afford to a potluck, they call it “low effort”.
You really can’t win until you get your bread up fr.
I don’t even see how I could ever possibly like a man more than he likes me. My love stems from how obsessed you are with me to begin with 😭
hellooooo???
“Billing” is such an annoying word to use when asking your man for money. It feels so transactional. There are many other, less derogatory ways to phrase a request.
Or maybe I’m too woke.
For a generation so bent on pointing fingers at the previous ones, you people are settling so nicely into the behaviors you despise in your parents…
Embarrassing.
