It takes time, I can’t just go to the post office and have my passport this afternoon

And that 21M people that won’t be eligible to vote is not just people in the 80s or higher. It’s people from all ages.

You rather get ride of 21M+ voters and worry about 77 cases in 24 YEARS. I’m fine with voter ID. Im not fine with “prove it or lose your vote”

So if the concern is “a license doesn’t prove citizenship,” the fix is require REAL ID. That’s reasonable and most people clear it. The bill instead requires a birth certificate or passport

Hits married women whose name doesn’t match their birth certificate, plus rural and elderly voters hardest. Meanwhile noncitizen voting: 77 cases in 24 years.Big burden, tiny problem. That’s the objection.

It’s not “show your license.” It’s documentary proof of citizenship — birth certificate or passport.
