History repeats: catastrophe creates winners and losers.
The winners are Nvidia, oil traders, and Asian tech tigers.
The losers are countries like the Philippines that never built anything worth owning when the boom arrives.
US CPI inflation came in notably softer than expected across the board (Bloomberg table below).
This print should help temper what had become an excessively hawkish market tilt to the monetary policy outlook.
However, this softer print won't fully resolve the debate over the forward-looking relevance of these numbers (please see prior posts).

Warren Buffett’a bir röportajda soruyorlar:

The Philippine government has consistently operated as an agent that prioritizes short-term consumer pacification over long-term agricultural sovereign strategy. We have spent decades underfunding rural logistics, ignoring domestic fertilizer production capacity, and treating import dependence as a virtue rather than a vulnerability.
We are excited to support the Philippine SEC’s StratBox initiative through our partnership with BlockShoals.
Frameworks like StratBox matter because they create space for innovation, dialogue, and stronger safeguards for users — all at the same time.
Looking forward to contributing to the Philippines’ growing digital asset ecosystem 🇵🇭

That Philippine April inflation print was nasty: 7.2% - highest in three years, above every single forecast, and more than triple the inflation rate at the start of the year
April inflation significantly hotter than expected at 7.2% vs. 5.5% consensus estimate & 4.1% in March. This may cause to BSP to turn even more hawkish and raise rates further.
