From our industry “Power Breakfast,” to conversations with rv owners, I believe that more people are interested in leadership transparency directly from the leadership of a given manufacturer.

That makes our TEAM very happy to hear, as we feel we feel that is exactly what we have been focused on. Holding our own leadership team accountable to DO MORE as the leaders!! No hiding in fancy offices here!! 🙅‍♂️

Some people just have absolutely no idea… there is world-class leader living inside them.

I knew it the moment I met him.

From day one, he had that rare combination: quiet confidence mixed with sharp instincts, the ability to ask the right questions, and the courage to challenge the status quo without being loud about it. You showcase sincere empathy to everyone which is the GOLDEN TICKET with me.

I was already watching him lead without a title. A TITLE DOESN’T MAKE YOU MORE HUMAN THAN ANYONE ELSE!

He is no longer just my little brother, he is my equal, helping me to lead a team, shaping strategy, and inspiring people to be the best versions of themselves. He chose to believe in me and give me a chance to lead. And now, I return the same faith and belief.

“Matt, I told you early on, I expect you to put others before yourself. I expect you to do everything you can to make a positive impact on at least one person a day. You needed to learn how to focus on being human.”

In a special evening, many within our industry, many voted for you, to represent the top title as top student. They believe what I believe… in you 💪🙏

And all that means, we will leave our titles at the door of the “Lil lemonade stand in Middlebury Indiana, to continue to hold each other accountable and try to disrupt an industry in being successful while building one of the best cultures for those we serve. KEEP GOING MATT!!! WE BELIEVE IN YOU!! PROUD OF YOU!

I LOVE YOU BROTHER!! In my biased opinion, I believe that in the near future, you will become one of the most sought after leaders in the entire #rv industry.

Also, Here’s what I’ve learned:
Most people don’t lack leadership potential. They lack someone who sees it in them before they see it in themselves.

If you’re in a position to lead, mentor, or hire — never underestimate the power of telling someone, “I believe in your potential” before they’ve fully proven it. Sometimes that single moment of belief is the spark that turns quiet talent into extraordinary leadership. To anyone reading this who feels like they’re still “figuring it out”:

Leadership isn’t about titles, corner offices, golf memberships etc. It’s about doing MORE for the people you serve.

I was the first American ever hired by a privately owned Japanese manufacturer in their 84 year history. That single opportunity has absolutely, had the greatest impact on my life and became the foundation to how I lead today. Plant 410 knows it.

From Japan to Israel and just about everywhere in between, selling advanced automation and robotics, you learned that cute marketing didn’t work, wine and dine didn’t either. Performance and results aka MERIT, is the only thing that mattered.

So how does this kind of background help me lead a team in Middlebury Indiana??

When I started, I asked one question to myself first: “How do I make the people around me—my team, my customers, my dealer partners—more successful than they ever thought possible?” That’s it. That’s the entire playbook.

I work my face off to do more for MY team, dealers and customers than others with a similar fancy title do for theirs- or at least I think I do. I will not be outworked in this regard.

I am in constant thought over the problems, friction, adversity of my team, dealers and customers, like they’re my own and I try to be relentless to help everyone as much as I can.

I protect my team from doubters, haters, competitors and anyone that tries to limit those in my care. I am a big boy. I can take the arrows in the back and I remind folks of often that those that do the least, say the most.
I also acknowledge I am causing quite a ruckus so, some of the negativity is expected 😎

It is me that is the big dreamer. I am just hoping I am doing enough for them to want to stay walking with me on this journey.

I celebrate their wins louder than my own. They deserve to be celebrated everyday. They don’t have to work for me tomorrow, they choose to. I have to stay humble and realize that everyday and have gratitude.

When your people know you’re genuinely in their corner, they’ll run through walls for you.

They’ll innovate faster, execute harder, and do more than any competitor can match because, the people in your care, trust you more than other teams trust their leadership.

Real leadership isn’t glamorous.
It’s service. It’s putting others before yourself. It’s protecting the culture and environment of everyone, regardless of title or department. NOT EVERY BUDDY BOY CAN DO THAT! TRUST ME!

And it works everywhere— From Tokyo boardrooms to Pentagon hallways to yes, even good ol campers and RV’s.

In other news, speaking of my current industry, I can assure you that Forest River is raising the standard in how leaders serve, and I have never felt more aligned than I do now, being here. City by city. We will not stop.

Transparent leadership is not easily replicated as it takes so much work and time that many aren’t willing to do. And that, is the opportunity we have.

We aim to do more than others are willing to do consistently. We are communicating every week, direct from the factory, to anyone that seeks that level of information.

Even if folks don’t like our decor or floorplans, if we can help more people be better educated, we will help them on their own buying journey. And if we help customers, we also help dealers.

When I am not traveling, I am on the production floor with my team — sleeves rolled up, telling them I appreciate them, helping solve problems together, serving wherever needed.
