And when Imam Aliع was in a state of prostration, ibn Muljam dealt a heavy stroke with his sword, inflicting a deep wound on Imam Ali'sع head.
This was the time when Imam Aliع uttered his famous words : "Fuzto bi rabil-Kaaba" "By the Rab of Kaaba, I succeeded ".

On the 19th of the month of Holy Ramadan of the year 40 A.H, Imam Aliع came to the mosque in Kufa for his morning prayers. Imam Aliع gave the call for prayer (Azaan) and became engaged in leading the congregation. ibn Muljam pretending to pray, stood just behind Imam Aliع.

The gate of Khyber used to be opened and closed by 40 strong men. Imam Ali (a) alone lifted and broke the gate in one strong jolt. He then used the same gate to make a bridge on a trench so that Islamic forces could enter the fort and capture it.
