Yesterday, I delivered my paper at the maiden International Conference of the Department of Political Science, UNIZIK, titled: “Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and State Sovereignty: Emerging Models for Nigeria’s Digital Future.”

My research examines how blockchain, beyond crypto, can serve as foundational infrastructure for transparent governance, secure digital identity systems, and citizen-focused public services.

It also offers a critical review of Nigeria’s 2023 National Blockchain Policy, which aimed to position blockchain as a pillar of national development. However, progress has stalled due to fragmented regulation, lack of legal recognition for smart contracts, limited institutional capacity, and the absence of public sector pilots.
