Stop building startups in third world countries. We do not have the disposable income to pay for tech subscriptions monthly. Built traditional businesses like the indians do. there is a reason why indians are the most successful businessmen in east africa, and u never find them building silly apps and websites
In 2002, my father was processing my sister’s visa.
One of the requirements was a Police Character Certificate.
He visited a state police headquarters to ask about the process.
A police officer told him it could only be processed in Lagos. He asked my sister to place her fingerprints on a sheet of paper and said he would transfer them onto the official certificate.
He said the fee was N262,000.
My father paid.
Two weeks later, my father returned to collect the document. What he received was a locally stamped paper with what looked like a criminal registry stamp. There was no signature from the Inspector General of Police or anything that suggested it was an official certificate.
Not knowing any better, my father submitted it with my sister’s visa application alongside other documents.
Her visa was refused.
One of the reasons given was that the police certificate could not be verified.
My father went back to the State Police Headquarters to ask what was wrong with the document.
The moment the same officer saw my father, he informed his other colleagues and their demeanor changed.
He then told my father to wait while he “checked something”.
Minutes later, another officer returned and loudly accused my father of forging a fake police report, calling on other officers to arrest him.
Imagine that.
The same institution that collected his money was now trying to make him the suspect.
Fortunately, my father immediately called a former Assistant Inspector General of Police he knew.
The atmosphere changed.
Afterward, my father received threats that if he ever returned to that station, he would be arrested.
That experience stayed with me.
It is one of many reasons I struggle whenever I hear the slogan, “Police is your friend”.
This was my family’s experience, and it left a lasting impression on us.
So “Police is not my friend”.
The last few months has been a tough and excruciating battle with my life.
I am sure I have had to suffer more pains than the guy at the cross who asked Jesus for a place in his kingdom.
For those who don't already know, I have a lump on my throat and it has grown to the point where it's now capable of eating my own blood.
The lump, according to the series of scans I have done is called Lymphoma.
In simpler terms, I have been battling Lymphoma.
I have gone days where I couldn’t talk, days where I couldn’t move my body from the bed for the whole day, nights where I have had my life flash before my eyes just because I chose to pee, days where I have had constant blurry visions where I couldn’t see things or anyone clearly, this explains why I have stayed off Facebook because I can’t see for long.
I am very weak. It’s the first thing you’d notice when you see me. I am being assisted to walk as I cannot walk on my own. In two months, I have fallen at different places that have sometimes resulted into injuries. How I am still alive, I do not understand it yet. The weakness is very evidenced in my voice, it has been the weakest it has ever been and my speech has become somehow incoherent. When I talk for over 30 seconds, I begin to gasp for air. I am sure some of those who have called me during this period will understand this better.
I have emaciated a lot. I don’t even look like me anymore.
I have been receiving treatment at the teaching hospital here in Uyo. I am scheduled for a biopsy soon, but I have to wait another week cus the hospital decided to shut down the hospital and send patients home after an issue that occurred at the hospital entrance yesterday.
For those who don’t know, a biopsy is done to check if a lump is cancerous or not. So a mini surgery is required as they’ll have to cut a part of my throat to remove the small lump they need for the biopsy.
The result of what the biopsy would be scares me a bit. First, because I don’t have the energy to go through cancer treatment after this horrible last two/three months. I really hope it’s not cancer so I can begin to prepare my mind for a major surgery instead.
My family and friends have been supportive financially, emotionally, morally during this period. But I’ll be needing your help and support as they can’t do it alone. The biopsy and a possible surgery will cost me significant finances. I need your help. I already thought I’ll be dead by now. But I wake up to life every morning, surprisingly. And since the universe still wants me alive, please help me stay alive. Thank you very much.

I hope to return to Facebook again after all these. But I need to be okay first. At least get the blurry vision out of the way so I can see your updates on my screen again.
I am thankful to everyone who has reached out one way or the other to ask about my well-being. I opened my Messenger app for the first time few days ago and I was overwhelmed at the plethora of new messages. I would attend to those messages as soon as I can gather enough strength. Thank you everyone. God bless you.
If God wills, I will be back.
Please help Hufon Hime survive

🚨 Some Christian women in Nigeria are gathered crying bitterly in tears after 173 people were kidnapped from Church service in Kaduna last Sunday.
Why is the world silent on this???
173 innocent Christians kidnapped by terrorists. Pls lend your voice!
We need to speak up for the young people in Ekpoma. We need to amplify their voices. They are getting suppressed by the police for protesting for their lives and safety. This is side by side with them getting kidnapped, raped and killed by bandits. Free them nowww !!!

As Ekpoma Bleeds:
The court has sent 52 students of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma (to prison for 14 days).
There is a compiled list containing the fifty-two names, & most of them are 21 YEARS OLD!!!!
At 21, the children of your politicians enjoy a sheltered life here in America, Europe, & across Asia & the Middle East. But AAU children were kidnapped from their hostels (at midnight) by the Nigerian police, BECAUSE THEY CAN!!!!
At just twenty-one, those children will spend 14 days in prison for simply asking the government to protect them, & THEY ARE JUSTIFIED!
That’s not all:
48 of the students were kept in that van for at least 2 hours before they were taken to prison.
So shame on the Nigerian Police.
Shame on Edo State Government.
Shame on Governor Monday Okpebholo.
This is beyond reckless, this is the highest degree of wickedness. If children of politicians are involved, will you kidnap them while they are sleeping? Would you have sent them to jail?
@TEEPHTREND@subpharmacist Anytime I come across mind boggling dull opinions, I first check does this person have a blue tick. If ‘yes’ then I understand…. Is dropping dull opinions like this the only way to farm interactions?
If you do me bad, I will do you bad. Trials and tribulations go strengthen our relationship or e go cast.
Feel my pain, let’s see if you can forgive what you expect me to forgive 🙏
