Don’t forget that we desperately need the same Jesus we preach to everyone else. What I do for Him isn’t a substitute for the relationship I need with Him. #Jesus#pastors
Please pray for Los Angeles churches today.
May the hurting be comforted
May the hopeless find hope
May the gospel go forth in the City of Angels
Amen.
Grateful for his example of Philippians 2:3-4. #othersfirst#mlkday “Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NLT #Jesus
“By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped.”
Eccl 4:12 MSG
Make sure your community isn’t just a bunch of acquaintances. You need friends that will face the worst with you!
The same is true when choosing to follow Jesus. There is healthy tension that helps you grow and live the life Jesus is calling you to live. So don’t opt-out of it, embrace it and remember it’s helping you become all you were created to be.
The tension you feel between what God’s calling you to do as a believer and what your mind and body wants you to do as a human is normal. It’s actually good tension. I think sometimes we can forget that not all tension is bad.
The tension I feel when I’m working out produces muscles. The tension I feel in my joints gives me the ability to run/jump. The tension I feel when thinking critically through choices helps me make good ones. The tension I feel with my money helps me save and not spend it all.
