Advocating for patient wishes is part of the job, but overriding a life-saving match in an emergency because of the donor’s past is outside her jurisdiction.
They aren’t divorced and there’s no restraining order. Both the mother and son were open on the table and couldn’t decide. The father’s kidney was a voluntary match that kept both alive. The team correctly overruled her on that basis.
