🇧🇷 Brazil is officially joining the Stop Killing Games conversation.

Federal deputy Jandira Feghali @jandira_feghali has introduced Bill 3612/2026, directly inspired by the Stop Killing Games movement.

If passed, game publishers would be required to clearly disclose at the point of sale whether a game relies on online servers, along with a guaranteed minimum support period of at least two years after launch in Brazil. Publishers would also need to give players at least 180 days’ advance notice of any shutdown, with notifications in-game, on social channels, and via other means. After support ends, companies would have to choose one of three paths: release an offline-play update, provide tools for the community to maintain the game themselves, or offer proportional refunds based on playtime. Non-compliance would result in fines.

This comes just days after fellow federal deputy Erika Hilton called for an official investigation by Senacon (Brazil’s consumer protection body) into @Sony’s plan to stop producing physical PlayStation game discs from 2028 onward. Hilton argues the shift undermines consumer rights like resale, lending, and preservation—especially in regions of Brazil with limited high-speed internet access that rely on physical stores and the second-hand market.

The bill still faces several stages of legislative review before it could become law, but Brazil’s moves highlight growing global pushback against purely digital futures and “live service” games that can disappear overnight. 🇧🇷
