If you think people on the internet are mean to librarians, wait til you find out how they get treated in real life by patrons, management, local government, etc, etc.

Had to explain to my mother that the guy panhandling outside the hiring grocery store probably doesn't have a home address or a vehicle and that's why he can't get a job there, and she was STUNNED to know those things are requirements.
This is kind of random but public libraries are so important to me. I could go even far as to say it changed my young adult life. Library was a place to get away from unhappy home, get lost for hours in all the books, graphic novels, magazines, cd’s, etc. The summer reading
