The Colonial Government of Nigeria shifted from footpaths to motor transport by constructing Nigeria's first motorable road in 1906, which connected Ibadan to Oyo.

Constructed primarily by the Public Works Department (PWD) as a feeder road for the railways, it served to drastically improve the transport of agricultural goods and people between the two commercial hubs.

South Africa has 3,021 miles of land borders.

Using the same rough benchmark, a wall around South Africa could cost over US$60 billion - that's more than R1 TRILLION.

And again that's before maintenance, drones, cameras, patrol roads, security personnel and the unofficial border entry points.

Building a border wall isn't a slogan chanted by March and March. It's one of the biggest infrastructure projects a country could ever attempt.
