I have joined a short consultancy as Lead Researcher on a study exploring hashtag#victims’ perceptions of #transitional_justice in #Syria, with a particular focus on families affected by #enforced_disappearance.
The study is implemented by Taafi in partnership with swisspeace.
My latest co-authored article: “#Syria: Learning from #Iraq’s #Reparations Experience” on https://t.co/UGiwcYalDP, written with Sherizaan Minwalla, JD MA and Zoé Paris.

Draft talks on transitional justice law in #Syria by the #NCTJ are underway in strict confidentiality, with access limited to CSOs bound by NDAs. This raises a core question: how can a justice law be shaped without rights-holders and experts?

My latest on #Syria’s #transitional_justice draft law, which is being discussed in secrecy. I ask foundational questions: who has the #right_to_know, to discuss, and to shape the law that will redefine the relationship between society and the state?

2/3 When draft laws circulate within narrow circles, we lose something essential: #public_ownership. In a context shaped by decades of secrecy and fear, #transparency becomes a fundamental part of #justice itself. That’s why the article focuses on the public #right_to_information

Very disappointing to see banks like @n26 and DKB in Germany having a discriminative policy. Where Syrians are not allowed to open an account because N26 can't verify their passports.
