BREAKING: Woman whose life was shattered by AI deepfake porn begs Republicans to stop blocking bipartisan bill!

A Florida woman whose life was turned upside down after strangers used AI to create realistic fake nude images of her is pleading with House Republicans to stop blocking bipartisan legislation that would finally give victims a way to fight back.

Sabrina Javellana was just 23 and working in local politics when someone anonymously sent her a link to dozens of AI-generated pornographic images using her face. As she scrolled, she suddenly recognized herself.

“I recognized one from when I was 17 in high school, just taking a cute picture in a mirror of my outfit… except my clothes were totally removed. It was the same exact photo, except they used this AI-generated technology to remove my clothes… From that day on, my world turned upside down.”

The ordeal left her terrified. She bought a firearm because she feared for her safety. The abuse wrecked her mental health. She ultimately decided not to seek reelection after serving on the Hallandale Beach City Commission.

“It impacted my stress, my health, everything. It crushed me to step away, but I had to for my sanity, for my survival, for my health, for my safety.”

Javellana is now urging Congress to pass the bipartisan DEFIANCE Act, introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The bill would allow victims to sue people who create, distribute, or solicit nonconsensual AI-generated sexual images.

It passed the Senate by unanimous consent in January – then stalled in the House Judiciary Committee.

Some Republicans have reportedly resisted advancing the bill simply because Ocasio-Cortez is its lead sponsor. “I don’t think that we should be emboldening child pornographers and helping abusers just because of some personal beef that they may have,” she said.

Javellana was just as blunt, calling the stall “a slap in the face to the women and girls who have spoken so bravely to tell their stories.” She added: “This is not about making AOC’s star even brighter.”

Paris Hilton, who has said more than 100,000 AI-generated deepfake images of her exist online, also called on House leaders to act, saying there is “no legitimate policy reason” for the bill to remain stalled.

Javellana described what happened to her as a new form of sexual violence that current law simply wasn’t prepared to address. “It wasn’t illegal to do this to people. I totally lost my sense of self. I felt like I had no agency over my own body ..."

AI tools are getting faster, cheaper, and more realistic every day. The question isn’t whether this problem is coming. It’s whether victims like Sabrina Javellana will have any meaningful way to fight back before countless more women discover that a single innocent photo can be turned into something that destroys their lives.

House Republicans should not be blocking a bipartisan bill to protect women from AI deepfake porn.

This shouldn’t be a partisan issue. It’s a women’s rights issue.
