6 - The campaign undoubtedly spurred the Council into action & they seem to recognise this. We hope the experience prompts development of new thinking about listening to and involving local people earlier in issues & initiatives that impact our communities into the future
Many Thanks @LewishamCouncil Planning Committee B last night 4 unanimously rejecting retrospective planning 4 extension erected without permission in Minard Rd, sending clear message to HMO developers to act transparently & respect Article 4 & our local #HitherGreen communities!
"Lewisham Council did not respond to a request for a comment".
They don’t seem to be interested in holding rogue landlords to account. Children and families in #Lewisham deserve better.

“We will not hesitate to take strong action” “I want to thank our planning enforcement team for working tirelessly to get this result.” - If only @LewishamCouncil felt the same as Haringey @Brenda_Dacres

Denial of right to object of particular concern as numerous hmo developers in #SE6 rush to beat 19th January deadline for introduction of the Article 4 Direction. Incomplete permitted development projects must be subject to full planning permission from 19/1 @LewishamCouncil
@LewishamCouncil @damienegan @Brenda_Dacres - email gets verified & I know I have an account yet on the same screen I get a red warning. Planning portal not allowing citizens to exercise their right to object. Contradictory nonsense. Sort the website out!
We wrote to @damienegan in May to beg for safety improvements on Sangley and Sandhurst Roads in Catford. He didn't reply.
Today we write to him again, begging for action before someone is hurt and killed. Will he come and see the problem for himself?

@CatfordParking@damienegan Blocked pavements, illegal parking & fly tipping on Sandhurst #SE6 have escalated markedly since the creation of a significant number of new HMOs in 2023 - trying to beat the Jan 2024 A4 Direction deadline. Are they being inspected and monitored? @RhonaBrown2 @NatashaMBurgess
@CatfordParking@damienegan@LouiseKrupski Looks like new HMO tenants dumping unwanted furniture. No of HMOs on Sandhurst now out of all proportion & adding greatly to pavement blockage & congestion. 12 more HMOs coming before Jan A4 D intro - so even more cars & refuse from 70 more adults. #dangerous#antisocial#SE6
Welcome news @Brenda_Dacres but a shame that so many more HMOs under permitted development have been able to proceed due to delay caused by a flawed consultation on the borough wide A4 Direction by @LewishamCouncil Has the Licensing Team been resourced to do the job properly?
✅ Yesterday evening Mayor and Cabinet voted to withdraw permitted development rights for Houses in Multiple Occupation across the borough.
🏡 This means any future HMO conversions will have to obtain planning permission, as well as being subject to our HMO licensing scheme.
If you have a wider interest in the future of Catford and the regeneration of it’s ailing town centre - you might like to Follow newly formed @CAll_SE6 - the Alliance is welcoming local businesses, community groups, churches, residents associations to join in their efforts #SE6
Reporting a delay in completing the legally required due process for introducing a borough-wide A4 Direction. According to @LewishamCouncil the 6 week statutory consultation period has had to be repeated (for technical reasons). The Direction is now due to activate in Jan 2024
We’re saddened to hear of yesterday’s fire in a recently opened HMO in #Catford South #SE6 Residents were evacuated safely but some are now homeless. An investigation involving Fire Service & Police is underway to find the cause & @LewishamCouncil has been informed. #housing
