37 years after the Tiananmen Square Massacre, the images of the lone man who faced down a line of tanks, and the Goddess of Democracy statue, continue to inspire people around the world.
Yesterday at @NEDemocracy, Chinese democracy leaders, Hong Kong activists, Tibetan and Uyghur advocates, and others reflected on their enduring struggle for freedom and the importance of preserving the truth of June 4, 1989.
Their courage reminds us that repression cannot extinguish the human desire for liberty. At NED we are proud to stand with those who choose freedom.

On June 4, the world marks 37 years since the Chinese Communist Party ordered its troops to attack thousands of peaceful demonstrators in and around Tiananmen Square. Those who sacrificed to uphold their unalienable rights of free expression and peaceful assembly will be vindicated someday.
