आज का विज्ञान बताता है कि केदारनाथ मंदिर शायद 8वीं शताब्दी में बना था। यदि आप ना भी कहते हैं, तो भी यह मंदिर कम से कम 1200 वर्षों से अस्तित्व में है।
केदारनाथ की भूमि 21वीं सदी में भी बहुत प्रतिकूल है। एक तरफ 22,000 फीट ऊंची केदारनाथ पहाड़ी, दूसरी तरफ 21,600 फीट ऊंची कराचकुंड और तीसरी तरफ 22,700 फीट ऊंचा भरतकुंड है।
