@MoCA_GoI - I have raised this issue with you over multiple emails by sending my escalation mails and whole copy of my conversation with Air India Customer care till date. If even you, as our Government and someone responsible for upholding standards of service and accountability, fail to act, where does the public turn for redressal and support?
@airindia - It seems Nodal Officer and Appellate Authority is just to appease the corporation and not to address the grievance of your passengers. There has been no response from their side and every time I reached out to both, a customer care support reaches out to me with the same message without addressing the actual complaint. Is this how your grievance redressal process works? I think you just need to shut it down to save people's effort and false hopes with a sham process.
FYI @TataCompanies - Hope this reaches out to higher authorities on how your airlines is treating its passengers issue by making them run around in circles.

Long thread of a passenger's torrid ordeal of travel with Air India which should make one wonder why people should even choose to fly with Air India. Worse travel experience with them on both Legs of my journey, especially the return one with the family. It seems Air India do not care an iota about your passengers at all and just want to keep their planes in the air even at the expense of passengers safety and comfort.
On my return leg journey, I was travelling with my family, having an infant and a 4 year old on AI 310 from Mumbai(Ind) to Melbourne(Aus), which is also a recently added new route, on 20th March 24. I had booked a bassinet seat for my infant. When I boarded the flight and reached my seats, I was informed that seats are unserviceable and not available due to some glitch in the oxygen supply pipe settings. The ground staff and duty manager Mr.Nilesh couldn't have been less caring and helpful. The two options I was given were either I take 3 seats together and 1 seat somewhere else, risk the infant being laid on an adult seat and risk him falling during the course of 12 hours+ flight OR simply deboard the flight and they would just refund me the price ticket. No option of putting me on the next available flight or any kind of support whatsoever. I even asked for help to check if there is one business seat available with the bassinet, to kindly upgrade the mother and infant and I and my 4 year old can stay in economy. I didnt ask for the free upgrade and was ready to pay the full price difference. Even after confirmation from the cabin crew and the first captain (as informed by cabin crew) that bassinet seat was available in business class, the ground staff led by Mr. Nilesh did not give a damn and forced me to choose the option to get 3 seats together because deboarding the flight and being left stranded on the airport with the whole family without any support from the airline was not an option at all for me. My wife and I had to take turns to stay awake throughout the flight to ensure the safety of our infant and my 4 year old together.
Second issue which was faced in both legs of the journey and not just by me but more than 50% passengers in the first leg on 16th Feb’24 on AI 309 from Melbourne to Delhi and in my return leg for more than 30% of the passenger's as understood by my discussion with fellow passengers, was the unavailability of entertainment units throughout the course of the flight. Seems to be trivial issue for some but think of multiple passengers who spent 12+ hours flight staring at a non-functional screen. Standard response was that there is a technical glitch on the flights used in this route and similar in general which renders these entertainment units non-functional even after multiple restarts (which is the only thing cabin crew can do in air).
Shows the professionalism of the airline and the callous attitude towards their passengers of how much the airlines care about the passenger's safety and comfort. And it pains a lot to see that it is our national carrier. Think about the image in front of all international travellers who use Air India and what memories they carry on when put through such ordeals. I have decided to never use Air India for any of my future travels and hope other travellers can learn from such ordeals of fellow passengers and save themselves such trauma and pain in their journeys.
@airindia - More than your "gesture of goodwill", I'm interested to know what actions you have taken against your ground staff for this incident and how are you tackling this common re-occurences of faulty planes so that such incidents don't repeat. Your meagre goodwill gesture (6000 INR for a 2,240 AUD family trip) doesn't count if you just let such incidents repeat, and you keep offering refunds as "goodwill" to the passengers. It would be more appropriate to let the passengers know on what actions are you taking against such staffs and for your planes repair with this budget.
@DGCAIndia@Ministry_CA - This airlines is the face of the country and you need to look at the passengers ordeals with more scrutiny which somehow seems to have a common pattern with Air India ignoring their passengers safety and comfort and leaves painful memories of our travel to and from India.
@staralliance - FYI to let you know how your gold members are being treated by partner airlines. Please go through the post and replies with updates.
I have been in repeated conversations with @airindia customer service, but apart from very meagre compensation ( ~ 160 AUD for a 2,250 AUD family tickets cost ) in the garb of "goodwill gesture", nothing else has been offered.
I wonder why one should opt for your gold membership when one is being treated so unfairly by your partner airlines.
@TataCompanies - FYI, please read the original post, this followup post and the airlines' reply and let us know if you deem it fit for what has happened.
@airindia - also as ignorantly your cabin crew informed that there is no seat belt for infants/toddlers when they travel in arms with adults in air india, I'm attaching the infant/toddler sear belt for when the baby is in arms. Other reputed airlines supply similar belts for child safety. Something to enhance passengers safety in your flights which you can learn from others.
@airindia Dear Air India, a standard copy book text of saying that you have forwarded the query to your maintenance team and will revert back is not a response. Please let me know when you have done something actionable on this.
@cricvizanalyst Is it possible to calculate fielding performance and its impact on outcome of the matches for older players like Mohammad Kaif? like how many runs he saved per match during his international ODI career?
