Wow, a good reminder of the importance of placebo-controlled trials for exploring adverse events! After unblinding one of our thiamine trials, I've learned the thrombophlebitis attributed to thiamine was in the placebo arm! How often do we misattribute events clinically?!
I'm happy to announce that we have now enrolled our final patient (n=86) in the Thiamine for Diabetic Ketoacidosis trial! We shall soon find out if thiamine makes any difference toward the resolution of acidosis along with some other outcomes. Data to be analyzed soon!
