When Virat Kohli really walked in like he was about to bowl, even gave his cap to the umpire, and then casually handed the ball to Jacob Duffy . This is Funniest moment from RCB vs GT Match.😂🔥
The terrorists have made a clear attempt to strike at communal harmony in India, and they clearly want radicalisation. They are the biggest haters of a peaceful Kashmir and are a blot on the name of Islam. How India responds will define whether they succeeded or not in their goal. The trust towards Kashmir tourism has again been set back by two decades and will bleed the valley dry.
That a famous tourist hangout spot in almost peak season time was surrounded by armed terrorists who had the leisure of checking IDs and picking Hindu male targets reflects a complete intelligence failure and zero preparation to respond to such threats. The terrorists should never have had that much time to execute their plan in what is the world’s most policed and militarised zone.
One also wonders, as is being suggested, whether there was any particular vacation group of govt officers and families that were the intended targets initially which then took a very devious communal path.
There should be no mercy on both fronts - how we deal with the perpetrators and also taking steps to bolster intelligence and security including sacking incompetent seat warmers in our bureaucracy.
Some issues cut across political divides, and I am hoping immediate and necessary steps are taken by the Union of India towards securing justice while also maintaining peace and harmony between communities in India. I will be the first to commend good work on this front by the NDA govt if it takes concrete measures. The real challenge is to neutralise the enemy and protect our own from communal backlash.
May better sense prevail and may our sense of unity overcome any threat to our social fabric.
The victim families deserve no less.
When you hear the audio clip of the conversation between the accused boy and the deceased girl in KIIT in Odisha, it really makes you wonder how is it that 21 year olds speak with such vulgarity. This is not just one case, this is how most people of their age nowadays speak.
We really need to remind society how important it is to be kind. Young people in college are bound to date, match, mismatch and fallout. But surely they need to be equipped with the wisdom of how to cope with relationships, how to handle break-ups, how not to dehumanize your ex, how to conduct oneself with dignity.
No relationship or breakup is worth losing sleep over, leave alone losing one’s life. Somehow we have idolised toxicity as an attractive trait, and being an absolute asshole is seen as a mark of badass personality. It is both bad and makes one an ass, sure, but we need to make such male traits undesirable. Percy from Main Hoon Na is a far better man than Lucky; Amol Palekar’s characters are far better boyfriends than Kabir Singh - we need our youngsters to be introduced to the intensity of gentle love, kind attraction and the audacity to be patient, soft and available. We need better books, far better movies and a new generation of role models.
Far too many young lives are destroyed and consumed by the ugly standards we worship in our youth while we seek companionship.
Lastly, this is not a Nepali vs UP issue so please let us not allow identity politics to takeover. But KIIT’s handling of the situation has been criminal, and the female professors seen in the video are racist bigots who should be nowhere near a place of education.
Wrote for @IndianExpress about how trial courts must be more vigilant in dealing with censorship. My critique of the seizure of MF Hussain’s work pursuant to an order of the Patiala House Court.
