​방탄소년단 슈가(Agust D)의 월드투어 무대, 웅장한 피아노 선율이 흐르고 대형 스크린에 나지막한 문구가 떠올랐다.

그 묵직한 추모의 대상은 다름 아닌 일본이 낳은 세계적인 거장 작곡가, 고(故) 사카모토 류이치였다.

그리고 그 순간, 객석 한구석에서 눈시울을 붉히며 무대를 바라보던 한 여성이 있었다.

바로 사카모토 류이치의 딸이자 싱어송라이터인 사카모토 미우였다.

​사실 SNS상에서는 "아버지를 잃은 딸이 태국까지 찾아간 이유"라는 자극적인 제목으로 알려지며 갖가지 소문이 무성했다

하지만 그 화려한 어그로 뒤에는 상처받은 마음을 어루만지는 너무나도 따뜻하고 아름다운 진실이 숨어 있었다.

​사건의 시작은 2022년으로 거슬러 올라간다.

어릴 적부터 사카모토 류이치의 음악을 들으며 아티스트의 꿈을 키워왔던 슈가는, 그가 암 투병 중이라는 소식을 접하자 망설임 없이 일본으로 향했다.

오랜 우상을 만나 음악적 교감을 나누기 위해서였다.

투병 중인 거장에게 슈가는 자신이 만든 곡 하나를 건넸다.

힘든 시기를 버티고 있는 후배들과 지친 세상 사람들에게 위로를 전하는 노래, 바로 〈Snooze〉였다.

​사카모토 류이치는 젊은 아티스트의 진심 어린 음악과 깊은 뜻에 흔쾌히 응해주었다.

몸이 쇠약해진 와중에도 피아노 연주 세션 피처링을 직접 완성해 주며 마지막까지 선배 아티스트로서의 따뜻한 손길을 내밀어 주었다.

very upset seeing some of the discourse about agust d. we really need to understand that yoongi getting emotional during the d-day tour doesn’t mean he was unhappy during that time. those were personal songs that meant a lot to him so of course he got emotional… we all know he struggled in the beginning, but we could also see how genuinely happy he was during the d-day era, the final chapter of agust d. he said himself this year that he no longer has any negative feelings and idk isn’t it obvious that wrapping up the agust d trilogy was a big part of what helped him get there? please stop treating such an important era of his life as if it were nothing but a dark period… it was also a time when he could be vulnerable, talk about his feelings so freely and let it all out. it also meant so much to those of us who found comfort and connection in his words. it helped so many people. myself included. it’s yoongi’s art we’re talking about. so please be careful with your words and how you put it out there.
