Never pull up your juniors in front of patients. It might seem small, but it can crush their confidence and the patient’s trust in them. Talk to them privately instead. They’re the ones who stand by those patients day and night. they deserve respect, not ridicule.

Big World is a beautiful film with top notch performances.
It doesn’t shout, it simply shows the everyday struggles, the quiet strength and how difficult the world can be for people living with disabilities. Leaves you thinking long after it ends.
Union Budget 2026 highlights | FM Nirmala Sitharaman has announced the setting up of a second National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS II) in North India to address the growing shortage of specialised mental health institutions in the region.
Presenting the Budget, Sitharaman said, “Government will set up NIMHANS 2 and upgrade the National Mental Health Institutes in North India.”
The proposed institute will be modelled on the Bengaluru-based NIMHANS, which is India’s apex centre for mental health education and neuroscience research.

Psychiatry is officially the next BIG medical branch.
Not opinion. Budget 2026 says so.
1. Govt announcing NIMHANS-2 + upgrading national mental health institutes
2. 50% expansion of trauma & emergency mental health care at district hospitals
3. Formal recognition + funding for mental health & behavioural care
4.Shift from “optional” to core healthcare infrastructure
India ignored mental health for decades.
This Budget made it a national priority.

Psychiatry is being told once again to step back. To prescribe less. To hesitate more. To practice “gentle medicine.” That sounds virtuous until you look closely. Six uncomfortable points.
1. Psychiatry is not reckless. It already works under uncertainty every day. The real danger is not overconfidence. It is paralysis disguised as caution.
2. Severe depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, catatonia and suicidality do not wait for philosophical clarity. Delay kills. Calling delay “gentle” does not make it ethical.
3. Average effect sizes are waved around to dismiss treatment. Real patients are not averages. Many return to work relationships and life because treatment was started on time.
4. Medication harms are loudly discussed. The harm of non-treatment relapse disability suicide is strangely quieter. That imbalance is not neutral. It shapes fear driven practice.
5. The chemical imbalance story is repeatedly used as a moral indictment. It was a public simplification not a clinical doctrine. Psychiatry never practiced cartoon biology.
6. “Gentle medicine” is a luxury concept. In low-resource settings it often translates to no treatment delayed care and abandoned patients.
Psychiatry does not need moral lectures about restraint. It needs the freedom to act decisively when illness demands it.
Less ideology.
Better judgment.
Vietnam is stunning; warm people, incredible food, unforgettable streets.
But Ho Chi Minh Airport truly tests your patience. Endless delays, poor communication, and chaotic operations with long queues can undo even the best travel mood.
Sex is a core pillar of relationships. When intimacy fades without reason, pay attention. Sexual withdrawal is usually the first red flag. Without it, relationships rarely survive, especially among young couples unless held together by finances or convenience.
Sex is needed for a marriage. Agreed.
But can a marriage survive without sex - Yes. Definitely.
What can't a marriage survive without, despite having a sexual relationship? Respect, trust, commitment, love.
Will the lack of above affect their sexual life? Definitely yes.
Ps: loads of my time goes into counseling these issues in my married patients who come for sexual problems.

Came to my hometown after ages and connected with my younger cousins. The common theme? Everyone wants to leave, not for better opportunities but because the mindset here is still stuck: regressive and resistant to new ideas. Hard to see a generation feel they must leave to grow.
Most students who are picking a “terminal branch” today because they are sick of entrance exam preparations would, in a span of 1–2 years, start looking for a fellowship or a superspecialisation they don’t need.
Why?
Because doctors, when not sure what to do in life next, usually start preparing for another entrance exam!
Instagram’s algorithm thrives on insecurity; fueling jealousy, doubt, and even unnecessary fights between couples. Vulnerable users get manipulated while platforms profit from the chaos. We need digital spaces that protect mental well being, not exploit it.
Just binge watched Family Man 3 overnight yesterday and damn… I feel like I’ve regained all my power. Gripping story, flawless acting, not a single skip moment.
If a tea seller and a doctor are earning the same, you really need to reconsider your life choices. No need to waste 5.5 years, sacrifice youth, and drown in exams for this. The system is broken, not the doctors.
Only a few northern states still pay doctors with basic dignity. In most of India, the situation is grim ; overworked, underpaid, and undervalued. For many first-gen doctors, a second income isn’t a luxury anymore, it’s survival. The system shouldn’t be this cruel.
The traffic mismanagement around Old Delhi Railway Station is unreal. Chaos, zero lane discipline, no flow, every visit feels like a test of patience. A city this big deserves better planning and basic order.
Growing up, I watched my parents always choose government hospitals for themselves and private ones for us. Even today, when we can easily afford better care, they still hesitate to spend on themselves. It’s painful to see how selflessness becomes a habit that never fades.
I don’t understand what it’ll take for the government to finally reach a tipping point, to sit down, form a committee of people with real scientific expertise and take concrete, evidence based steps to tackle pollution. This bandaid approach is no longer gonna serve the purpose.
Wow, do some homework before posting. Vaccines contain weakened or inactivated viruses to train your immune system safely, building memory to fight real infections later. Same principle applies to dog vaccines too.
There is no chemical imbalance, there is no antidepressant drug... now that I have your attention. Real antidepressants: Love, safety, purpose, exercise, nutrition, sex, sun, meditation, sleep, faith, community, creativity, generosity, achievement, health, empathy, compassion.
