⚽ How do you beat a man-to-man press?
⚪️ Real Madrid
• Individual quality: isolate your best players and let them win 1v1s
• Unexpected runs from deep to exploit the space behind the press
🔵🔴 Barcelona
• Drive forward with the ball
• Third-man combinations
• Opposite-direction movements
• Pass and moveDifferent approaches.

@peter_kamaras74 I agree with everything. But I’m not convinced Xabi sees Lavia as the right profile for a more controlled game. He’s fit, yet Henderson starts ahead of him. To me, that shows a lack of trust. Even when Lavia played earlier, we were incredibly direct anyway.
Some thoughts on Chelsea–Spurs:
⚽️Bentancur’s red card might have been the best thing that could’ve happened to Spurs. Finally, Fernandes started playing deeper.
⚽️The Palestra substitution was really weird.
⚽️I rarely lose my head during a match, even when it’s my team playing, but Van de Ven’s tackle and Fernandes’ handball did it for me. I can’t even be mad at Palmer.

How Tottenham Exposed Man United’s Biggest Weakness 👀⚽
Manchester United’s pressing structure left them vulnerable against Tottenham, with problems starting from their 4-2-4 shape at goal kicks. The first line lacked the aggression needed to disrupt build-up consistently, allowing Spurs to find passing options and progress into spaces behind the press.
Once Tottenham bypassed the initial pressure, the gaps between United’s midfield and defensive lines became even more difficult to manage. United’s midfielders struggled to step out at the right moments without exposing the space behind them, leaving Spurs opportunities to receive between the lines and turn towards goal. 🧠
The numerical balance in midfield added to the problem. Tottenham could create 3v2 situations, giving the player in possession multiple passing options while forcing United’s midfielders to cover too much ground. When one player was drawn towards the ball, another space opened up for Spurs to exploit. 📐
These structural weaknesses made United vulnerable whenever their first pressing line was bypassed. Without sufficient pressure on the ball or compact distances between the lines, a single missed assignment could expose large spaces and leave the defence facing direct attacks.
Breaking down these moments with Once Sport Analyser helps coaches identify pressing issues, numerical disadvantages and the movements that open spaces between the lines. 🔍📊

How did Leeds still create problems against Carrick's back 5? 👀 #MUFC
🔹 Bogle and Justin rotated positions on the right
🔹 Mbeumo blocked passing lanes but failed to track back
🔹 Dalot was repeatedly left in 1v2 situations

Chelsea vs Everton half time:
Really weird refereeing.
Some amateur mistake (MArtinez holding tha ball too long).
But the worst thing is that we still look really bad against low block. We just can't create and i really miss runners in behind, we are so predictable.

@EBL2017 What was different last season, in your opinion? Why do you think he deserves more time based on that? I don’t see much difference in terms of tactics, only in the results.
@CFCCentral3 I don't think it is good for Palestra. He will play probably as a winger in this system. But as a winger he won't start as a wing back he could've been starter.
Reece can play as a RB in this, or CM i don't think he will be a RM.
@tactixology You’re right, but it’s a huge problem for me when a system is set up in a way that one mistake can lead to this situation. Most good teams, when they press, still have enough players behind to cover for a mistake like Cunha’s here, rather than leaving their back line 5v4.
United’s pressing was full of problems:
🔴 4-2-4 press at goal kicks
🔴 Not aggressive enough
🔴 One mistake = huge spaces exposed
In midfield?
❌ Huge gaps between the lines
❌ Midfielders unable to jump
❌ 3v2 numerical disadvantage
